This PRODUCT is a CD, not a DVD!,

Both reviews, so far, are about the MOVIE. This product is the SOUNDTRACK only -- the music, a CD -- not a DVD. I was looking for remarks about this product, the performances, which performer played what music, etc. Neither of these reviews belong with this product, sorry to say.
Since I have already heard Teo Gheorghiu play one of the pieces on this recording and was absolutely astounded, I could give him no less than 5 stars. He will surely be a blazing star in the near future. His talent is enormous! His playing is sophisticated far beyond his years. Every note is crystalline and distinct revealing a technique that is as good as it gets. I'm glad Teo enjoys playing football (soccer in the US) and that he doesn't have to use his hands. On the other hand, I hope he protects the head that contains his fabulous talent and bank of music. I am looking forward to buying CDs of his performances in the near future.

Wish I had an I Q of 180. But I do not, alas. So I must work with what I have as best I can. Vitus is about a lad who does have stratospheric intellectual capacity, and how he works with what he has--navigates the treacherous rapids, descents, and falls of adolescence. . .adolescence, that stage of life wherein conformity to the herd is paramount, and to be perceived to be different can mean, at least, ostracism--if not destruction of one's personality, or even self-destruction. But Vitus survives. Vitus does not succumb. Vitus outwits the stupidities of his environment. Vitus lives. Vitus thrives. How he achieves this is the focus as well as denouement of the narrative, excellently directed by Fred M. Murer, whose work I have not much cared for until this remarkable film. Superbly acted by the two youngsters portraying Vitus at different stages, one of whom (Vitus in adolescence) is played by the gifted Teo Georghiu (actually performing the music). Bruno Ganz ("Downfall") is the endearing, and very wise, grandfather--one of the few in Vitus' immediate environment who provides support, and understanding--in a role that could not be different from his brilliant portrayal of Hitler ("Downfall"). This film was Switzerland's official entry for the academy award (Best Foreign Language Film category). But of course it did not and could not win. No gun shots, car chases, naked bodies or heavy breathing--caviar for the general.

I love this movie! I have shared this movie with all that I work with, and my family. What a talent! I wish there were more talented children like the young man who played Vitus!

It is encouraging to meet a young person with so much common sense and respect for its own life. I recommend the movie as well as the cd.
