4.0 out of 5 stars Bam knows how to pick' em...
First off, I'm not biased. I do love Bam Margera and have seen everything he's ever been involved with, but that doesn't mean that I automatically loved the CD. I picked it up because I HAVE gotten into a lot of new bands via Bam, and was hoping to expose myself to some new music. I wasn't disappointed. 3.0 out of 5 stars The Bonus DVD
The song collection on this CD is pretty good.
However, if you're like me, and are planning to buy the CD mainly for the DVD [especially the "lost episode" of Viva La Bam] save your money.
It's not worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bam knows how to pick' em..., October 4, 2005
This review is from: Viva La Bands (Audio CD)
First off, I'm not biased. I do love Bam Margera and have seen everything he's ever been involved with, but that doesn't mean that I automatically loved the CD. I picked it up because I HAVE gotten into a lot of new bands via Bam, and was hoping to expose myself to some new music. I wasn't disappointed. Bam Margera is good at many things; skateboarding, directing, acting, producing, and now, he's shown that he has excellent taste in music. The CD opens with the theme song for his show "Viva la Bam", but the original track is of course, longer and even more rock'n roll than the TV version. Daniel Lioneye's voice is reminiscent of Elvis, deep and fun to sing along with. Everyone wants to say "oh, of COURSE" when they see HIM and CKY on the CD, but don't be so quick to dismiss. Bam's chosen excellent songs from his two trademark bands, so even if they aren't your cup of tea they're easily enjoyed in the context of the album. However, the standout tracks for me on the CD are "In My Heaven" (by HIM-esque Finnish band called Negative), "Cold Black Days" by dark-rock legends Atrocity, "Sleeping my Day Away" by D-A-D, "Big Shot" by Kill Hannah, and the perky but somehow dark "Rock 'n Roll" by The Sounds. My personal tastes don't run to the likes of Cradle of Filth and Children of Bodom, so the last few tracks on the album are iffy for me, but the overall album is definitely worth the purchase price. It's one album you can put on and crank to get your energy level up, and the mix is eclectic enough that there really is something for everyone.

Also worth noting: The DVD has a 'lost episode' of Viva la Bam where Ryan Dunn goes over a waterfall in a barrel and has a panic attack while doing so, as well as several other extra goodies involving Bam driving his Hummer into the glass doors of a friend's apartment, excellent music videos, and some commentary. And the discs come with a very yummy Bam fold-out poster and brief little stories about what each song means to Bam and why he chose them.

Definitely worth buying if you're into rock music, even if you're not a Bam fan... but if you are, this disc is just icing on the cake!

It is great that Bam uses his stardom to bring awesome bands to the spotlight here in the US! If you have not heard about The 69 Eyes from Finland, here is your chance to hear them and see their video for "Lost Boys". This is a great collection of some talented artists.

Thanks to Bam i got to listen to the 69 eyes for the first time and from then on i became a HUGE fan, and a HUGE fan of Negative and a bigger fan of H.I.M. and i was already a BIG fan of H.I.M. Most of the other bands i knew already like cradle of filth, cky and children of bodom. Oh, and the dvd is very funny, it is worth the money.

This CD is awesome. I heard my buddy playing "Lost Boys" alot and it would get stuck in my head and i was like man i really like that song so he showed me a few other songs on there and i borrowed the CD from him and i've been playing it constantly. I don't particularly care for Bam Margera much, but yeah, he picks great stuff. I love tracks 3, 6, 17, 18 and 20. I've been listening to it all the time lately and I've been checking out those bands. I'm actually not really familiar with any of the bands on it cause i usually listen to more new punk stuff and I'm starting to kinda get into metal now. (p.s. Those riffs on 18 and 20 are freakin awesome.)

This album is great! I've been listening to it non stop since I got it and am still lovin it! It's a great idea how Bam brought so many bands together that aren't well known in the States and gave them some very good publicitiy because all of these bands deserve the attention- they're all so talented! I highly recomend this album to anyone interested in true rock music...you will not be dissapointed!!

i love this album because Bam chose 21 different bands that are all kick ass! and whats cool is that i have never heard of most of these bands but they definitely got my attention now. my favorite tracks are familiar realm by CKY, i dont care as long as you sing by the Beatsteaks, and lost boys by the 69 eyes rocks!
