"Viva Maria", August 27, 2000
This review is from: Viva Brazil (Audio CD)
Concord Records presentation of "VIVA BRAZIL", features one of the most creative and dynamic artist recording today, "Tania Maria". This composer/vocalist/pianist, who hails from Brazil, is back, paying homage to her Brazilian heritage, while at the same time propelling, into new and creative journey's in the vast musicland of ours. "VIVA BRAZIL, finds Tania's distinctive synthesis of jazz, Brazillian, funk and pop music to be more potent and powerful than ever! Stand outs: "SEBASTIANA", "IT'S ONLY LOVE", "NAO SE AVEXE NAO" and "CONCEICAO", are but a few, of what I consider soon to be classics, by this talented and accomplished musician. Total Time: 52:50 on 11 Tracks/ Concord Records - CCD 4873 2 (2000)

VIVA BRAZIL INDEED !!!!, August 16, 2001
This review is from: Viva Brazil (Audio CD)
Tania Maria has become as a good wine, the longer it ages, the better it gets. I've been a fan of Tania for many years now, and was glad to hear and enjoy her latest work Viva Brazil. She feels and sounds more relaxed and more confident than ever before. My favorite songs are: Sebastiana,Tudo Certo/Mas que Nada, the new and better version of Sangría and Conceicao. Please make yourself a favor, purchase this fascinating album, at once, you'll LOVE it.

Solid Return, September 2, 2005
This review is from: Viva Brazil (Audio CD)
I've always admired Tania Maria's fiesty spirit - you can hear her zest for life in her playing and singing. At her best she uses both her voice and piano as a very unique sounding Brazilian percusion section, and this album has a great deal of that fiery magic. The first song alone was worth the price of the disk for me, and there is a lot to love throughout. Portuguese words over a Brazilian groove is about as beautiful as it gets in my book, and there is a lot of beauty in this disc.
