The best race game simulation,
By
This review is from: GTR 2: Game of The Year Edition (Video Game)
Simply the best simulation race game in existance today by far. You will need a machine with a good video card and atleast 2 mg. of memory in order to realize all of the visual dynamics of the game. A very large and well organized software community exists online to support this software allowing for extensive enhancements to the original software - more tracks and cars. If you want a serious race simulation software package that visually renders what it is like to drive and race a sports car look no further than GTR2.

Fun, realistic racing game,

GTR 2 is an awesome racing game. Realism is the key word here, meaning not for Mario Kart junkies. There's no combat, just strictly racing. The graphics are flat-out beautiful. Basically everything down to the sounds the cars make is drawn directly from the official 2003 and 2004 FIA GT Racing cars. Have a nice graphics card and processor if you want to play this game set for high quality. Good speakers are nice too. It's possible to play with a keyboard, but a steering wheel/pedal set combo makes a world of difference. I recommend a Logitech model, especially if you're really into racing.Logitech MOMO Racing - Wheel and pedals set - 6 button(s) or Logitech G25 Racing Wheel

Does not wok on Vista,
This review is from: GTR 2: Game of The Year Edition (Video Game)
The item was found among the games suitable for Vista on the Amazon. However, some of the functions do NOT work on Vista as they do on XP.
It is not a problem of the manufacturer as the product cover does not say it works on Vista. But I purchased and opened it because it was shown on Amazon as compatible with Vista. I suggest Amazon makes that clear. The game works great on XP, though.

very boring and lifeless,
This review is from: GTR 2: Game of The Year Edition (Video Game)
ok, i get it is a sim game and all. but its boring as hell. you go around loop after loop after loop. the music, and narrative (or lack of), and the grafix, everything is gloomy and boring. i don't know, i love forza and GT5. something make them fun and you keep going at it. this one is just a grind. plain boring.and yes, cpu does cheat as the previous 1 star rating pointed out.

I'm a Windows XP user and wasn't sure if this game would work properly on XP. Having the box in hand I can now say that both the minimum and recommended operating requirements specify Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Home/Pro. I don't see Vista or any other operating system mentioned anywhere on the box but, I do know from looking into the matter for other titles that Vista runs most games made for XP without issue.
My suggestion is, if you are unsure whether or not your system will support the game, do what I did and download the demo and test it out for yourself just to be sure.

Fantastic Game, Great Vendor,

At the price, you can't beat this GOTY Edition for sim-racing. Looking for a good game to use a racing wheel with? Pick this up, it's worth it.

GTR 2: Game of the Year Edition,
By Vernon G. Thompson "Vernon" ("Hog Heaven Ranch" Seligman, Arizona. USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

Well, I had already purchased GTR2 a year ago, but when this "Game of the Year Edition" came out, I thought it was an upgrade because the 'Release Date' was newer. Unfortunately it wasn't, so I have two copies of the same version now. The consolation to this story was that this 'new edition' (though not new) did include "GT Legends" which, if purchased seperately would have cost me more than this "package deal" so it worked out just fine. Incidently, I just purchased another Racing Sim through you: "TOCA Race Driver 3" and am looking forward to it's arival.
Amazon.com is always my first look for purchasing stuff. I have purchased two "Twin Packs" of Ionic Pro Air Purifiers through you too. and my wife's Christmas present Nikon 12 x 50 binoculars, several woodworking books,a little travel 24 hr clock for my Radio Desk,Music CD's and much more. I'll be your customer as long as I am buying and you're available. Thanks. Vernon

Piece of garbage,

Worst game I ever wasted money on.
Let me tell you what's wrong. I bought the game and I was attempting to install it and guess what, no product key packed with the game. I had to call their 800 number and leave 4 messages before I heard from someone. No, they didn't call me back but they actually emailed me. In the email, they gave me ta product key... 9 days later after I bought the game. Installation was successful. Next problem... DRM. I installed it and now a program called Starforce is preventing me from playing it because I have daemon tools. I use daemon tools for WORK, not for stolen pirated games. I had to go through all sorts of loops so I can get a patch to remove their draconian drm since they think that I'm a thief after PAYING for their product. It finally worked! I was able to play with my Logitech wheel. I was having fun for the first hour. What happened next? The CPU cheats, yes... cheats. I get rear ended and pit maneuvered all the time by the cpu cars and I spin out and lose the race so I have to restart. Now, you think you'd want to do the same to the cpu cars? LOL! Not a chance in hell. If you ram a cpu car, YOU will spin out of control. If you try to pit them, they will spin out only to regain control a split second later while you spin and slam into a wall taking a full 20 seconds just to get back on the track while a cpu car will do it in a blink of an eye. This game has given me nothing but trouble and head aches. I would like to take a sledge hammer and smash the disc and box in a million pieces and send it back to the manufacturers. They'll just laugh at me since they have already stolen my money. |
