Review

One of the most famous, accessible, and beloved pieces of seasonal classical music, Antonio Vivaldi's Baroque masterpiece 'The Four Seasons' is given a thoughtful performance here by David Juritz and the London Mozart Players. Also presented are Vivaldi's 'Concertos for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.' This recording of Vivaldi Four Seasons was made utilizing 24bit 96 kHz technology. The sound stage is spread over the front three channels, whilst the rear channels contain the natural ambience of the Church of St Silas the Martur, Chalk Farm, to give the listener a realistic representation of the acoustic in witch performance took place. Concertos for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary written for two independent orchestras, these were recorded with the soloist, David Juritz, standing in the middle of the two groups. This seemed an ideal opportunity to position the orchestras accordingly in surround sound, so for both concertos, orchestra one is positioned in the front channels and orchestra two in the rear. Musical recordings under license from Naxos of America.

This is preposterous and completely unacceptable!
This HDDVD is a mere slideshow with the classic masterpiece accompanying. If I wanted this, I would buy a dvd-A. I was also annoyed by the fact that they are mentioning that the visual os 1080p. High definition my a_s.
Amazon should stop selling this crooky product.Thanks/John.

With a proliferation of Vivaldi Four Seasons recordings in CD, SACD and DVD-Audio formats, this HD-DVD should have been the standout item in ones collection that is already brimming with multiple versions of the same. With the cover offering a tantilising glimpse of the orchestra, I bought this on the premise that it would be a video of the concert performance. I am most unhappy that this is not the case. The scenery slideshow is pretty enough but like most people who will buy this disc based on what is on the cover, they will be disappointed.

The four seasons on blu-ray is a little dry. It is bass shy, the detail was there, but, thin and lifeless. I prefer my CD version better.

I purchased this title in the hopes of seeing a live symphony orchestra playing the "Four Seasons". What I got instead was a slide show. If the visuals were actual film of the countryside subjects presented it might have been pretty good. However the images are static and not very involving. The music one the other hand is quite good. The soundtrack is in surrond (they used a double orchestras) and it does a good job of giving a sense of being at the performance. Too bad the visuals don't match up with the music.

The music is great, I'll give it that much. My daughter is OBSESSED with Vivaldi and I bought this because I thought it was going to show a CONCERT with live performers. We were sorely disappointed when we put the video in to discover there was no live concert! We already have Vivaldi's Four Seasons on 500 different CDs...we did NOT need an HD DVD with sound only *eyeroll* What's more annoying is that it took 3 tries to buy the "right" HD DVD player to play this video and then it's just music :P Unless it's just music you want, I wouldn't buy this DVD and I agree, the cover is VERY misleading >:-\
