1958 Recording,
By
This review is from: Vivaldi: Flute Concerti, Op. 10 (Audio CD)
This recording with Rampal dates from 1958.
The recording features of very lively old style harpsichord doing the basso continuo. The playing is nice, although I think if you want Rampal you should go for his recordings with the I Solisti Veneti because each concerti is on track instead of separate tracks and also the older recording has been very poorly remastered from tapes to eliminate noise with a resulting muted sound.

His nickname talks by itself the man of the golden flute. These minor works, nevertheless still are considered pleasant works and easy going musical pages for the musical newcomer. They possess musicality, noblesse, charm and refinement, and illustrate the candor and affable character of the composer.
They are kind pieces but Il Cardelino is my first choice. Go for this set of Concerts that will allow you establish important premises at the moment to compare and remark styles and influences.

Wonderful Preformance,

I play the flute, and think Rampal is the best! Right now I'm playing La Tempesta di Mare Concerto #1. Rampal sure can play it smooth and accurately! The only dissapointing thing is that all of each concerto is lumped into one track, making it harder to skip to the movment you want.
