I sort of expected this recording to be really transcendent given that it got a Rosette from the Penguin Guide, but I think Salvatore Accardo sacrificed vitality for lush lines, and the piece suffers for me as a result. It is pretty and a very different interpretation from the others I've heard, but I prefer faster tempi myself. The concerti at the end that aren't part of the Four Seasons, one in b and one in F, are a treat.
