Gr 5-8--Similar in style and reading level to the ``World at War'' series (Childrens), these three volumes cover different aspects of World War II. All of them are competently written and clearly presented; however, no documentation of sources is provided. Pertinent black-and-white photographs accompany almost every page of text, making for an attractive, accessible format. Vive La France covers the perilous history of those French citizens who sought to undermine the Nazi occupation of their country via guerrilla warfare. Little else has been published for this grade level exclusively on this topic. Go for Broke and Our Burden of Shame discuss subjects amply covered in other sources. Both Sheila Hamanaka's The Journey (Orchard, 1990) and Jerry Stanley's I Am An American (Crown, 1994) are more compelling and notable than Sinnott's title.

Vive LA France' : The French Resistance During World War II,
By A Customer
This review is from: Vive la France: The French Resistance During World War II (Library Binding)
I enjoyed reading this book and it is very clear that it is put together very well and clearly presented; but, I would like to know where the source of information comes from. There were pictures on almost every page of this book which kept me interested and that's pretty hard to do by the way. Vive La France covers the troublesome history of those French citizens who wanted to get rid of the Nazi occupation of their country via guerrilla warfare.
