This all new Math Blaster is really terrific. The eight math activities present concepts like graph interpretation, money calculation, and basic math facts in an entertaining carnival theme. In one fun activity, children complete number patterns, for example, 34, 32, 30, 28..., to win a dunking contest. In another game, kids fill food orders by creating numbers with the correct place value of ones, tens, and hundreds. There's concrete practice with clocks, money, measurement, addition, and subtraction. Ultimately, the goal of the CD is to win the Intergalactic Grand Prize Trophy. The program's features are unusually good. Numerous automatically adjusting difficulty levels keep the play appropriately challenging. The activities turn into entertaining arcade games after successful rounds. The record keeping is detailed, showing children's completion of each skill, task, and level, and certificates are awarded, providing even more incentive to play. There are printable activities that compliment those provided, and an open-ended creativity area that lets kids experiment with geometric shapes. Testers raved about this one. One in particular used the program to help her bone up on math facts, and she's still enjoying the CD after four months! All of the ingredients of a solid program are there--fun theme, plenty of activities, and open-ended components.

Math Blaster Ages 7-8 is a wonderful program that engages children in learning essential math skills required in 2nd grade curriculum. The animated atmosphere lets kids play in a virtual classroom with over 300 lessons and 50 skills taught. The activities adjust to individual players and reward them with a medal and a big trophey. Kids automatically feel successful and are excited to play and learn in the carnival of games. I will use this program in my classroom to strengthen student's math skills and get them motivated to play and learn. Thank you!

I am quite impressed at how this keeps the attention of my 1st grade son. The carnival game atmosphere is entertaining and educational at the same time. Now all he talks about is how he wants Reading Blaster too.

My 2 year old loves this software package. She can literally play this game for hours. The games are a great introduction to reading graphs, sorting, fractions, and hand eye coordination. The package has a whole lot more, but the ones I mentioned above are the ones my daughter plays the most.
