Editorial Reviews

Review

"Vivian's Song" will catch you by surprise.

Even with the extra character information, the book maintained a steady pace and kept me interested through the whole story. "Vivian's Song" will leave you intrigued and amused.

Reader Views by Marty Shaw

Vivian's Song shows what happens when culture wars take on a life of their own and how quickly people forget to "love their neighbor."

While the first 1/2 of Vivian's Song is a bit slow, the second 1/2 picks up nicely and makes for a good tale of goodhearted people dealing with bigotry in a small town.

Feathered Quill Review, Holly Connors

Overall, I found "Vivian's Song" to be an interesting read and I can definitely see and understand the message within.

Rebecca's Reads, Charline Ratcliff

I don't read novels. I read autobiographies or historical accounts or true crime stories. If it isn't based on true facts it doesn't usually hold my attention.
But, after I read the story line on the back of this book I thought there might be some good laughs.
Well, for some one who does not read novels I was really surprised that it could keep me turning the page to see what happened next in this made up story.
It's one thing to be entertained as you read. But, to be entertained as you read and also be compelled to question age-old beliefs you were raised to consider solid truths is astounding. This book is great!
And as for those laughs I was looking for? When I tried to quickly explain the novel to my daughter I told her "Well, it's different, it's got a lot of funny stuff, some weird stuff, some mystery and some scary... it's got everything a good novel is supposed to have!" Highly recommended.
Good work Mr. Pointer! I'm actually looking forward to a novel coming out.

Mr Pointer's "Vivian's Song" is such a readable read! It grabs you up with each short chapter nugget enlisting the next, till it twists and goes goofy before settling back into sweet resolve. It's the perfect escape for a day or two wishing one could trade places with the protagonists. And the descriptions of the various locals often made me feel like I sort of knew those places somehow. I can't wait to read more from this author.

I really enjoyed Vivian's Song. I like how it started out just before the confrontation, but went back and gave the background story to build back up to that point again. I was on the edge of my seat, unwilling to stop reading until I finished. Even though this was a serious book, the touches of humor were great, such as the acronyms for the various groups (APE, BOOB, etc.). I look forward to reading more from this author.

This book is as bad as a good bottle of wine!

First, you're tantalized, then, you sip and gulp a few.
Realizing that it's nearly gone, you savor the last drops.
When it's too quickly over, you want more brew,
but the bartender's dimmed the lights, and closed down the shop.

There's nothing to do now,
but wait for the next,
clutching a corkscrew.
