Vivitar's compact 575PZ Date 38-140mm zoom camera combines a powerful zoom lens, automatic focus, and automatic flash for point-and-shoot convenience. It includes automatic advance, rewind, and midroll rewind, plus an easy-to-use panorama switch. A quartz date back has four modes that allow you to keep track of your photos for organization. The LCD displays the film counter, shooting mode, and battery symbol, among others. The automatic flash features red-eye reduction, fill-in, and off modes. A 10-second-delay self-timer allows you to get in the picture.

This camera is great. It takes great closeups, with a blinking light that indicates whether the subject is within the autofocus range to avoid blurred pictures, and the zoom feature is great. I live in a high rise co-op and from my terrace I can zoom in on people walking in the street. The pictures are sharp-though the clarity depends on how steady you hold your camera when taking the pictures.The capacity to go from closeup to 140mm zoom makes this camera a must have. The camera also has special setting for taking great photos at night.

I recently purchased this camera for a trip to Hawaii knowing that I would need a great deal of zoom for the mountainous distance shots. This camera did not disappoint, bringing any object to a respectable close-up. There are a tonne of extra features that work wonders for any level of photographer. The night feature worked great for the sunset shots. It has a great red eye reducer feature. Best of all the pictures are crystal clear with help from the automatic fine focus. There are two things to be aware of before purchasing this camera. First, the instruction manual was loosely converted from Japanese to English which translated into an myriad of grammatical mistakes. It makes it a little difficult to understand, but after reading it a couple times things become clear. The second factor is that you will almost never see a clear image through the cameras lens. When I started taking pictures I thought the pictures would come out blurry, but upon visiting a camera store and finding out this was normal everything was ok. It takes some getting use to, but the pictures do come out clear and vibrant. I highly recommend this camera for the price point. I did alot of research before making this purchase and I am definitely not disappointed.

The Vivitar 575PZ is a terrific camera. However, if you purchase this item , be advised that the 575PZ requires a 3 volt CR-123 lithium battery which Vivitar does not supply with the camera.
