The built-in variable power of the Vivitar 285HV auto professional flash provides you with fill flash and the ability to shoot properly exposed rapid-sequence pictures. This vertical bounce flash gives your photographs soft, professional lighting. The four f-stops give you control over the flash distance range and the depth of field, while the auto Thyristor circuitry allows for a faster recycling time as well as more flashes per set of batteries.

I bought 2 of these to try and just bought 2 more. AWESOME RESULTS.

- Using these with Canon 5dmk2 and Canon T2i (all off camera, wireless)
- i'd rather spend money on lenses and you know, the more important stuff.
- Remember, all flashes are the same IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THEM
- these are manual, so if your a natural lazy piece of *#@@, then you will feel cheated with these.
- high learning curve, but once you do learn, these things are AWESOME!!!

I'll cut to the chase. Get this flash. It is just fine on a Pentax K-x. The voltage is only 4.4V so it's not going to fry anything.

The ability to adjust the flash output is a plus. You can feather just how much fill in you get from the flash to make a perfect picture. I initially purchased a TTL vivitar flash when I bought my camera, but the flash came with absolutely no information on how to use it with a pentax camera, and I've never gotten consistent results with it. But with my 285, I get rock solid results.

The batteries are great and hold their charge for a long time. The charger refuses to ever show a green light for full charge, but I guess after the batteries have sat over night they are at full charge. Disappointing that it won't show a green light (I've left it for two days and still had a red light) but the batteries more than make up for that. And it says 4 aa batteries. I got 8. Maybe I'm just lucky... But it's nice to have the spares!!!

So don't delay, get this now!
