I got this for my son using my airline miles that are going to be wasted. I DID NOT expect it to be a decent telescope - I expected it to be a toy. But it doesn't even live up as a toy telescope. It's as horrible as you could imagine. The tripod broke while I was trying to set it up the first time. A screw sticks out within the telescope housing so it's always in your line of sight. And you will eventually blind you eyes trying to focus and see anything clear. You just have to wonder whether anyone from Vivitar paid a single bit of attention to the quality of their products and their reputation whatsoever.

Please, it's not worth a single penny. Save yourself the uttermost frustration.

I got this telescope for my 7 years old child from JC Penney a couple of days ago and I have to say that it was a big mistake. The first day after we assembled it started to fall apart. The visibility is terrible, very blurry and the tripod is very shaky and flimsy. Please, do yourself a favor and don't buy it or you will have a hard time with it.

So I got this Telescope for Christmas 2010 & had to wait a few days to use it. Tried it out tonight & it sucks. I wear glasses & trying to use the "Finder Scope" is a joke. I get something in it's sight & its no where to be found with the telescope. The few times I did come across something, the image was so blurry I could not make sense of it. Then I go to focus in on it & the telescope moves just a pinch & I lose sight of what I had in view. Also the box says the barrel is "ABS" but the instructions say "Housed in an Aluminum body" Nope, it is ABS with a silver paint on it. For the price of this thing, just get yourself a nice pair of Binoculars & have more fun & less headache !
