4.0 out of 5 stars For the money I'm happy
I normally don't buy without reading reviews, but there were none to be had for this item and i really just wanted something small and cheap to carry on my belt. So based on the specs I bought it. I've had it a week and have taken 50 pics (still using the original battery!) It's actually a pretty good little webcam and the software supplied was simple to install and works...

3.0 out of 5 stars Awesome For The Price
This was my first digital camera, and for the dirt-cheap price I bought it at, it was amazing! As long as you are outside, the pictures come out nicely. The fact that it doesn't have a flash makes it almost impossible to take pictures outside, and there is no LCD screen to preview your pictures, but for the price, it is fantastic.

It can take short movies,...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vivitar Vivicam 50 Digital Camera (Electronics)
I normally don't buy without reading reviews, but there were none to be had for this item and i really just wanted something small and cheap to carry on my belt. So based on the specs I bought it. I've had it a week and have taken 50 pics (still using the original battery!) It's actually a pretty good little webcam and the software supplied was simple to install and works well. Keep a steady hand or the pictures will blur (although I have taken a few from a moving vehicle that I was satisfied with. The only experience I have had with a digital camera is the olympus D-380 (which I really like), but for knocking around I wanted a cheapy. There is no comparison to something like the D-380, but that wasn't my intention and the price also reflects that. This camera is excellent outside in good sunlight and I have no complaints, but indoors make sure you have at least 150watts shining on your subject or the picture washes out. I'm giving this 4 stars, for it's size, quality and convenience. I'd buy it again with no regrets. Just keep in mind what you intend to used it for. If your looking for serious print quality, you'll need to spend a bit more and go with 2 megapixal or better, but if you just want something to e-mail around or view on your pc with webcam capability this is a good deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest camera ever!, June 16, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Vivitar Vivicam 50 Digital Camera (Electronics)
I can just say "Wow" about this amazing camera! There is nothing else to say! It IS $..., but I found that very reasonable for this excellent digital camera! It has great features and I have been able to capture some wondeful features, which I will try to describe as best as possible.
The first thing I will write about is its looks. When I had to trade in my StyleCam Blink 2(what a ... little thing) for my new Vivitar, at first I was a bit dissapointed. The Vivitar was unattractive to me when I first saw it, but I have gotten used to its design and now find it unique and very attractive.
The camera comes with some great software that's easy to use and can help you enhance your pictures. The Vivitar's package also includes a case, a handstring (very useful-I keep it permanently attached), and a stand for it when it's out of use or you want to take a video of yourself or others without having to hold it.
The camera is very easy to use and has several excellent abilities. Along with being able to switch the camera from taking pictures outdoor or indoor and selecting whether you want a VGA or a CIF, the camera lets you choose between normal mode and macro mode. I have used the macro mode to take some breathtaking shots of flowers in close-up.
This camera is an excellent purchase for any expert photographer or beginner. Buy it today! You won't regret it!
