I tried the Vivicam 2.0 for a week and must admit it eats batteries fast! But from what I'm hearing, that seems to be the case with all digital cameras. I solved that issue by buying a Duracell 1hr charger and an extra pack of rechargeable AA's.I already made a short video clip (with the 8mb internal memory you can record about 30 secs. of video) I shot in broad daylight and it came out beautiful! Minutes later I was watching it on my PC! The quality is very decent considering it's not a camcorder. This camera has lot's of features which is why I chose it above others. PROS: Has Video Out (NTSC/Pal-N) The main feature this camera has above others I've considered is the extra digital window at the top which allows viewing various settings without having to turn on the LCD display. I have tried to overcome most issues with this camera, but finally decided on returning it and ordered a Hewlett Packard 635 which seems like a more solid option. Tip: before buying any camera, first try them out at the store. I could not find a Vivitar to try out and had no way of anticipating many things. the HP 635 I HAVE tried, and I feel pretty confident it will be a good choice. It takes great pics, but it eats up batteries too quick, i had to buy rechargable ones because i was spending too much on regular batteries, with the lcd on, it only lasts about 20 minutes. Also, it CANT BE USED AS A WEB CAM, which was very dissapointing, and in the description says that it can be used as a web cam but it cant. Its also kind of slow when taking pics, but overall ts a great cam, comes with AV cables, pc cable and great software. Its also cool looking

This little camera benefits in some ways from being outmoded. It has useful features, takes good pictures, and does not require enormous storage space. I got an equally outdated flash memory plug in for it and it can hold almost 400 pictures. My thirteen year old was very enthused by the camera as a gift!

Nice digital camera with 3x optical zoom for the price. 1.6 inch LCD view helps with image composition and is viewable even in full sun. 2 megapixel maximum resolution is fine for most uses and generates file sizes that are small enough for email. Video capability depends on the size of the SD card you have. Most digitcal cameras limit videos to 30 or 60 seconds but this Vivitar will take video up to the limit of memory.
It does eat alkaline batteries like snacks so you'll want to get a set of rechargable batteries post haste. That's pretty much true for all digital cameras though. The optical zoom is way better than other cheap cameras so-called "digital zoom." The autofocus works well and doesn't slow things down too much if you read the manual and know how to pre-focus with the shutter button pressed half way. All in all it's a great point and shoot optical zoom digital camera for the price. |
