The affordable Vivitar Vivcam 25 digital camera is a great way to introduce a young person to digital photography, or to have on hand for snapshots at parties or family functions. It has a VGA resolution of 640 x 480 pixels (as well as an option for 320 x 240 pixels), and can capture video (without audio) and function as a PC/Web cam.

The Vivicam 25 has an internal 8 MB memory that can hold 25 images at the highest resolution setting (640 x 480, low compression). Video clips are shot at 4 frames per second (fps) at either a 640 x 480 or 320 x 240 resolution. It can also deliver live video to your PC via a USB connection for easy video conferencing. It's powered by two AA batteries (alkalines included; NiMH rechargeables recommended).

My father bought this camera for my middle child for his 7th birthday. He got it last night. It is going back to the store. It is a nice, inexpensive child's camera that you cannot count on. More than 50% of the time it will delete the pictures off the camera instead of uploading them into the computer. What good is it to take pictures you cannot save? I took test pictures and uploaded them to be certain it wasn't my error, but consistently it erases a full camera of snaps instead of uploading them.
