I bought two of these, this and one in the pink/orange color and also bought two of the square three-layer Vivo containers.

I was very suprised at the large size of the square ones, they will hold 4488 ml and are way too large for a lunch container unless you're feeding two people and packing one layer completely full of green salad.

Those would be good for a picnic lunch or portable romantic dinner for two.

This one is perfectly sized. It will hold 977ml so it's an ideal size for a man's bento style lunch, and filled to 2/3 capacity it works for a woman too. The metal carrier is sturdy and secure yet it's easy to open and close. The containers fit together much better than the square ones, but they are not watertight and wouldn't contain even a thick chili.

The only other problem is that they're made of melamine and so are not safe for microwave use. That's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

They are very brightly colored and attractive containers. I would buy more if they offered the grey/white and red/tan combinations. These are colored nicely for a woman or child, but a little too cutesy for a man.

For anyone who's interested, the metal carrier and the melamine bowls are made in Thailand. It would be nice if Amazon would include the country of origin in the description, but since they don't, I've added it here.

I bought this for my 7-year-old's school lunches. We put fruits and vegetables in the bottom and a sandwich, salad, or other entree in the top. It looks cool and gets lots of comments from classmates and their parents. Best of all, our dog has not been able to break into it! I am done replacing cheap plastic containers and soft-sided lunch carriers due to dog damage!
The only reason I haven't given it five stars is that it has a small design flaw. The metal bracket holds the two bins and the lid together fairly tightly, but not enough to prevent it from falling apart when tossed around. The lid gets jostled ajar when it is dropped. I would expect an item built for childrens' use to be able to withstand a little more abuse. My own bento box has separate brackets that hold the lid to the top container, so it doesn't fly off as easily as this one.

This was the first bento box I ever purchased. (although some people were calling it a... tarrif? I think that's what it actually might be.) It was very excited to receive it, and I was/am satisfied.

The size is almost perfect for a high school age girl, like me, although it's a little on the tiny size if I use the bottom for an ice pack. (Which is slightly a problem: there isn't a really good place for an icepack in this bento, so if you're planning to have large lunches that should be kept cold, might not be a good choice. I usually use a circular ice block in the bottom, with maybe something small that fits, and then my basis of lunch in the top. This keeps everything nice and cool, and so it's not bacterified.)

The plastic parts are basically just two (estimated) 2 inch tall bowls. The bowls fit together in what ever order, blue to green, or green to blue and the plastic lid sits on top and the clamp, clamps it all together. I had a slight problem with the metal brace thing, because it was easily bent and the clamp is slightly messed up, so if you're planning on buying this for a destructive child who might drop it, throw it, hit people with it, etc... don't. I think something a little less fragile, like a complete rubber-like plastic bento box might be good. :D

Anyway, lunch has been much more enjoyable since I bought this! I recommend egg molds too~ because they are so cute, and the hard boiled eggs really fill me up. If you're a kid, great size! If you are an adult woman, may be a great diet idea! Or for someone who has a small-ish diet. This bento box is actually a lot larger than most of the other ones I saw!!

This box is perfect! I use it to carry my lunch everyday. One compartment is just right for a salad, chicken and veggies, etc. I use the other for snacks. There's space to include a 4oz Glad container of yogurt, and surround it with carrot sticks, string cheese, or whatever. I've found that it seals well, though at first I was nervous and put a paper towel over "wet" foods. If you have concerns about leaking, that's what I suggest. It's true that you can't microwave the box, but that's never been a problem for me. Just transfer the should-be-hot things to a paper towel, nuke and put back in the box. :) It takes up very little space, is easy to clean, and gets compliments wherever I go.
