This isn't just for kids. This little Bento is wonderful. Sure, my kids like it. But I have one for me, too. I have the large size for family trips, but for a lunch for one, unless you eat like a horse, this one is perfect. I put rice and some veggies in the top one - and it holds more than enough, and then I put fruit and snacks in the bottom one. Now it's not insulated, and I don't like my food hot- so I just stick it in the fridge (or not- since there's no meat in my food). If you want insulated go with the Mr or Ms Bento (which I also have, and recommend highly), or go with an insulated food jar - which I use for my son's soups.
These hold up well in the wash- you can put them in the dishwasher. I love the colors, and I feel like like their "cuteness" makes my girls less resistant to taking their healthy lunches.
Edit- I've been using these for a little over a year now, and they still look new. I think I get more compliments on these than I do on anything else we own. I've taken to using sushi grass and plastic silicone baking cups (regular size and mini) as well as bento accessories (like the tiny sauce containers) to make this container more versatile. I can put some sliced tea sandwiches in the bottom, and then put in olives, cous cous, potato salad, fruit or tomatoes in little silicone muffin cups, and it keeps everything separated, and looks quite attractive too. I can put dates in the cups, or cookies, and keep them separate from whatever I've put in the top, too. I've got a few pictures of how I use this bento on my food blog-
hmmm- it won't let me add a link. So if you want to see the pictures of this and other Amazon lunch containers full of various lunches, google "A year of lunches"- my sopressata roll up was the first link that came up for me.
