If you ever mount hinges, drawer sliders, latches and stuff, then these are great. The screw hole is centered in the hole and the installed part looks so much more professional than those with amateurish crooked bunged-up screws.

Also, there is a depth adjustment so you won't drill through the side of carcasses, drawer sides and such.

Wood chips can keep the tool from retracting sometimes, and that is annoying, but there is no way to prevent it and you will get in the habit of pulling it out manually when you have to. The utility of the tool far outweighs this little problem.

If you have ever been frustrated in trying to drill centered holes in hinges, lock plates, strike plates, etc., then relieve your frustration by buying all three sizes of these bits. It will make drilling properly centered holes painless.

I had 15 interior doors to custom finish and install. Never done it before. Besides the usual learning curve, these bits made the hinging process nice...the coup de grace! Make sure you are mindful of the size of screw you are using...and get the correct size Vix-bit.

The actual VIX brand bits are what you need. Everything else is junk. Great price.

It makes drilling the holes for a hinge wery quick. Does jam, but is easily cleared.

These work great on larger screws, but fall short on small screws where you would really need them. The poor tolerance and slop play side to side often leave the hole off center with small scews. I puchased these to help with the mounting of small hinges in jewelry and music boxes, forget it. They work fine for door hinges and larger applications.
