4.0 out of 5 stars Great buy
I just purchased this TV from a local vendor, just to use in a bedroom (so I didn't need a huge size). I admit, I was worried about the quality of an unknown brand (unknown to me, at least), especially since the price was great. But as soon as I hooked it up (easy!), I discovered that the picture quality is excellent, the sound is superb, and the channel capability...

3.0 out of 5 stars Distorted picture, tiny sound
Just purchased a VIZIO 26" LCD HDTV and not so easy to get started. Picture widths stretches out the faces or compresses what's on screen. The sound is tiny. Have played with all the settings for two days and had to change a lot of the factory settings. With the distorted picture it is to small for my living room. Not one reviewer has mentioned any of these problems.

I just purchased this TV from a local vendor, just to use in a bedroom (so I didn't need a huge size). I admit, I was worried about the quality of an unknown brand (unknown to me, at least), especially since the price was great. But as soon as I hooked it up (easy!), I discovered that the picture quality is excellent, the sound is superb, and the channel capability exceeds my much-larger plasma in the living room (a different manufacturer)--this TV detects channels outside my viewing area, allowing me to see NBC, for instance, from all the surrounding cities. It simply assigns extra channels these "-x" numbers. For example, I have 10 or 11 channel 26's, so if I click on "26" on the remote, I go to channel 26-1. Then when I click the channel up key, it goes to 26-2, 26-3, and so forth, showing me all the channels from Baltimore, DC, and even Richmond to the south--something my Tivo box doesn't do (since it can't assign more than one channel 26), my other analogs don't do, and neither does my big plasma TV do this. So it's just nice to see the channels that the cable company offers, if you have the capability to assign multiple channels to the same number. And the TV did it automatically at that. :)

In all, it's got great sound, excellent picture quality, and digital receiving, so it really is a great buy all around.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice entry level HDTV, October 16, 2008
This review is from: Vizio VW26LHDTV20F 26 in 1080P HDTV Wide Screen LCD TV (Electronics)
I purchased one of these from a local walmart to replace my fading SDTV(CRT). i was a bit apprehensive at such a quantum leap(going from a tube TV straight into a LCD HDTV). The tv has great picture, good simulated surround from the speakers; and is pretty user friendly. (though the remote I got with it doesn't match what the actual TV can do, as my remote has no "OK" button, but some of the features require the use of an OK button.)

Another drawback to this TV is it's lack of outputs, for my PS3 I had to leave the A/V connectors hooked up to my surround sound and then hooked up HDMI to the TV and then split the signal VIA the ps3's options. This was very annoying as I wanted the sound to come from both the TV and the surround system; instead of just one or the other.

Other than that, I'm very happy with the TV.

I purchased this tv for my bedroom about 2 months ago and it works great. I have my computer pluged into it and i have my xbox playing hd threw it. In my house every room we have a hd vizio in it just a gret quality tv for a great price. But dont buy it thinking it has pip( picture in picture) like i did. That got me very mad, evedently this tv doesnt have all the great feateres the bigger vizios have, like the one in my front room. Still great tv great price.

It is a good thing that this unit is now unavailable! My mother in law needed a new TV, (as with most of our elderly, she is on a fixed income to the point that we must supplement her on some items) so my sister in law set out to find a new TV. She settled on the cheap Vizio against my advice. I distinctly told her that they are cheap FOR A REASON. Look at the picture it produces next to a REAL Digital TV like a Samsung. The SAMSUNG has smooth edges on the images, the Vizio? Sawtoothing!

This unit crapped out less than two years after purchase. It first became difficult to turn it on which made us tell our mother in law to leave the TV on all day due to the difficulty of getting it to come back on once turned off. We could, with a bit of finagling, get it to turn back on after hassling with it for 10-15 minutes or so. Then it gave up the ghost completely after a few more weeks. It now sits at my house waiting for disposal. I bought my mother-in-law a NEW 40" LED SAMSUNG for Mother's Day! She was speechless!

I called Vizio which was another treat in customer service excellence. I referred to the manual and called their tech service number, I got a recording telling that the number was no longer in service and the message gave NO forwarding phone number! I had to hunt to find a working tech service number! Even then, I had to be transferred internally to get to the tech service team. BULLCRAP!

I mentioned that I was NOT looking for warranty service but direction on what needs to be done to fix the power on feature. I had been online and noted that others have had the very same problem. Tech service told me that the incidence of failure rate for this issue was less than 2% so they were not even going to address my question on how I could fix the damn thing myself, much less accomodate me in any way. The attitude was "it must suck to be you". The tech service lackeyt then just hung up since he did not want to deal with a now professed EX-CUSTOMER!

I've maintained since day one that Vizios are not exactly the icons of reliability, yep the are made in the US, and damn cheaply made (quality) and they cost less for A REASON! Spend the extra money! GET A REAL TV!
