"Vocabula Bound: Our Wrestling, Writhing Tongue" is a collection of twenty-eight essays alongside other articles from the Vocabula review. Discussing language and how it is being morphed today, how it's both declining and making comeback in some areas, the topics discussed range in vastly different discussion. From swearing off swearing to discussing the origins of a vulgar term for the female anatomy, "Vocabula Bound" is strangely intriguing, making grammar and English riveting.

My copy of Vocabula Bound 2 came to-day. I love the title, as though "Vocabula" were the destination of a heroic journey, and I love the subtitle, "Our Wresting, Writhing Tongue". I've been looking up "wrest" and like the association with a tuning fork, which leads back to the notion of "beauty" since tuning an instrument brings harmony. The variety is wonderful. Many of the essays I remember with pleasure on first reading and am happy to have them inside the covers of a very good looking book. It is an honour to be included. -- Anna Jean Mallinson
I received my copy of Vocabula Bound 2. It is so gorgeous! Thank you, thank you, thank you for producing such a useful and beautiful language reader. I hope to use it as a required textbook in a composition course sometime in the next two or three years. -- Pen Pearson |
