Low Stress Way to Improve Vocabulary, and Fun for the Family,
By
This review is from: The Vocabulary Builder: The Practically Painless Way to a Larger Vocabulary (Study Smart Series) (Paperback)
The Vocabulary Builder: The Practically Painless Way to a Larger Vocabulary (Study Smart Series) will probably appeal to those who enjoy crossword puzzles, Boggle, or other similar games. Personally, I don't usually have much fun playing anything beyond Scrabble. However, the short activities (under 5 minutes a piece) weren't bad, didn't require a whole lot of effort (I read the book while working out on the treadmill type equipment), and they stretched my brain a bit.
I was looking more for advice with the exercises that would help me remember difficult words. I think the philosophy of the authors is that we learn best by playing, though. Although none of the words are terribly difficult, they are certainly useful. I would recommend this book for students who want to do self-study (a painless way to strengthen vocabulary), parents who want to play educational games with their children (this book is perfect for that), and adults who want to do some light / entertaining mental stretches. |
