More About the Author

I have written more than 70 books, most for young people of all ages. "Boys of Steel: The Creators of Superman" is the first and still only standalone biography of the young men who dreamed up the world's first superhero; it is an ALA Notable title that received multiple starred reviews and appeared on the front page of "USA Today." My picture book on the "secret" behind the creation of Batman comes out in 2012.

I have written extensively for Nickelodeon Magazine. I'm also a cartoonist whose works has appeared in more than 100 publications including "The Wall Street Journal" and "Forbes." I do not know how to draw sewing machines or SpongeBob SquarePants.

I blog behind-the-scenes tales of book research, promotion, and more at http://noblemania.blogspot.com/.

3.0 out of 5 stars No index or table of contents, June 17, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vocabulary Cartoon Of The Day: 180 Reproducible Cartoons That Help Kids Build a ROBUST and PRODIGIOUS Vocabulary (Paperback)
The cartoons and definitions are great. I also like that each cartoon only takes up half a page. However, the words are harder than I thought they'd be. Also, the words are not in alphabetical order and... brace yourself - there is no index or table of contents!!! You can't quickly find a word you're trying to teach.
- Frustrated Teacher

4.0 out of 5 stars Great way to liven up vocab., August 8, 2008
This review is from: Vocabulary Cartoon Of The Day: 180 Reproducible Cartoons That Help Kids Build a ROBUST and PRODIGIOUS Vocabulary (Paperback)
This is a quick but fun way to introduce vocab by using context and picture clues. It is for older elementary and above.

1.0 out of 5 stars First book that I ever returned to Amazon, December 30, 2007
This review is from: Vocabulary Cartoon Of The Day: 180 Reproducible Cartoons That Help Kids Build a ROBUST and PRODIGIOUS Vocabulary (Paperback)
I thought that this book would similar to other books that I have purchased which use rhyming and mnemonic techniques to help kids remember new words and build their vocabulary. It doesn't. The cartoons are not memorable, and I was not happy with the purchase. This is the first and only book that I ever returned to Amazon for credit (less the return shipping cost).
