4.0 out of 5 stars Seneca Vocabulary, September 2, 2004

This review is from: A Vocabulary of Seneca: From the Collections of Albert Gallatin (American Language Reprints) (Hardcover)
This is a modern reprint of Albert Gallatin's nineteenth-century vocabulary of the Seneca Indian language. It is a very small volume, and there is no phonetic key. An interesting book from a historical linguistics persepective or if you'd like to learn a few words of Seneca, but don't buy it expecting to learn how to speak the language.

4.0 out of 5 stars American Indian Language Dictionary, January 15, 2007
This review is from: A Vocabulary of Seneca: From the Collections of Albert Gallatin (American Language Reprints) (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful collection, using some old but reliable sources for interpretation of the Seneca language. However, there are additonal resources directly from the schools on the Seneca reservations in New York State that could be incorporated into an even better dictionary.
This book was helpful for Seneca language enthusiasts.
