This is a marvelous collection of Doo-Wop Vocals, featuring most of the great quartettes of the era, the Penguins, the Platters, the Tokens, Dion and Belmonts, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, and many, many more. There is a good balance here of big names and relative unknowns, all of whom share great talent for the genre. You will be pleasantly suprised at some of the gems here you may have never heard before.

The sound quality of these almost 50-year-old recordings is phenomenal. They didn't sound this good on the 25-watt speakers the old Rock-Ola jukeboxes of the period were equipped with, I'm sure!

Apparently this set has been "remaindered", that is, its manufacturer no longer has it in its catalog, and existing copies are being sold off at a substantially discounted price-- for under $10.00! You cannot go wrong at this sort of value. If you are a fan of 50's R&B and Rock & Roll, you will love and appreciate the efforts that went into the assembly of this set.

My box set came with an additional Bonus 4th Disc that is not listed in this description. I do not know if this is a standard feature on all sets.

Even if you already have many of these songs, as I do, this set is simply fantastic.It passes on the obvious/typical choices, and has only one questionable selection(hint; I don't dig novelty tunes). The mix, the spectrum, the sound quality are all top rate.Throw in a low price and this is a super bang for the buck.Nuff said.
