5.0 out of 5 stars Don't listen to that clueless guy who gave only one star
This disc appeared when micro/click house producers started mimicking each other...Delay proved his signature deep sea bubbling soundscape can work really well with soulful house music.

Although not in the same vein, I recommend those who want to listen to more of microhouse stuff that are not cliched to try Akufen or Geez'n'Gosh, Pantytec, and Safety Scissors.

1.0 out of 5 stars how i hate house
I really hate this 4/4 thump: to me it means lack of inventiveness creativity originality. And then for it is too fast. I am a slow person. I like music with a more relaxed pace. This is why i like Depeche Mode.
I own this record but i never listen to it.Please if you have feedback contact me at

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Artist. Brilliant House., October 6, 2000
By A Customer

Luomo is Vladislav Delay. Already making waves with his Chain Reaction-style "Clicks n Cuts" tech-dub, on Vocalcity he weaves some of the most gorgeous House tracks around. Really just a collection of his 12" releases on Force Tracks... everything holds together as an album pretty well. This is an album equally suited for the bedroom or the dancefloor. The sound is fresh and vibrant, and the rhythm is at a natural, very organic pace... highly recommended.

Also check out his releases as Vladislav Delay. They're quite different, but equally as brilliant in their own right.

5.0 out of 5 stars A CULT-CLASSIC!!!, December 16, 2003
This review is from: Vocalcity (Audio CD)
You may be blown away by the length of most of the songs on Luomo's Vocal City, but for the extended durations you will be moved like no other Dance CD out there. Chalked full of thunderous basslines, electrifying synth-rhythms, minimal vocals and superb mixing, "Vocal City" is sure to become, if it isn't already, a cult-classic. This is the perfect party CD to throw in if you don't want to change out CDs all night, especially at the wrong times!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, January 21, 2002

This album is almost pure vibe. The kind of vibe that expands your head and your emotions. This album is both funky, and smooth, and its message is clear. There is a certain clairity that comes from listening to this album not a lot unlike someone who just got done crying and as such feelss emotionaly renewed. Very organic, very interesting... , very soulfull. I discovered Vladislav, through Luomo... and I wouldn't have wanted to be introduced any other way. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Required for those seeking a fresh perspective on house, November 5, 2000
This review is from: Vocalcity (Audio CD)
Emerging from his embryonic world of analog waves and fuzz, Vladislav Delay offers a brighter, warmer peek into his sizeable talents, collecting six churning and charming house cuts under his Luomo moniker. Yes, I said house music- this from the man typically making waves on abstract and experimental labels Mille Plateaux, Basic Channel, and Chain reaction.

What we get is the rarest of compromises, where both stereophiles and dancers can get their groove, or their headphones, on. The rich, dense layers of drone, natural sound, thick noise, and synth streams (the basis of his last album, Entain) remain but are curtailed to accommodate plunging bass and deep beats. Vocals on each track help sustain the ten minute-plus mark, but they receive the Delay treatment: echoed, buried, or squelched into new patterns. That is, when you can even catch `em; often the voice is just one more element breaking to the surface, as in the fleeting wisps of "The Right Wing." These subversive elements are setting you up for the album's biggest surprises: the smooth, sraight-forward "Synkro" and lovely duet "Tessio."

It's hard to remove that independent streak even when creating his most accessible album to date, and in roguish fashion Delay leaves all labeling off the CD case, barring a small insert. I guess you can change the beats but not the attitude. Required for those seeking a fresh perspective on house music. Grade: B+

5.0 out of 5 stars Luomo - Vocalcity, February 22, 2011
This review is from: Vocalcity (Audio CD)
Vladislav Delay, perhaps better known for his ambient work, assumes his Luomo disguise for some epic deep house. And when I say epic, I mean it in the best way; these tracks take their time to develop fully, adding and subtracting elements, rather than just maximizing their time on the dancefloor. "Market," the opening track, starts with a steady beat and some sweeping tech-house chords and doesn't let go; "Synkro" has some whispery vocals floating atop the rhythms and submerged melodies. Even though the tracks are long they never lose either their intensity or their interest. The best track on Vocalcity, "Tessio," continually morphs, bypassing the whole house jam and becoming something more of a meditation on house. "She-Center" closes the album with more of the deep and dark groove to which we've grown accustomed. An amazingly beautiful album.

5.0 out of 5 stars silky and wonderful, May 16, 2009
This review is from: Vocalcity (Audio CD)
this is great stuff, just listening for the first time and have to say it's first impressions are great. so i can imagine i'll love it more on repeated listens. this was going for more for a while, people mess with the availability and pricing of cds here, and i hate it. this was listed for like 40 bucks last i saw, so someone(s) creating bottlenecks of scarcity, and consumers get the short end always. anyhoo, if you like tech/micro/minimal, you'll probably dig this, it has vocals, which is a nice change from just instrumental, it's looped anyway, so you're not hearing verse/chorus. can't wait to hear balance14, came in today, don't have time yet though!!!
