Good sound but...,

This review is from: VocoPro DVD-Duet 80W CD / Dual Cassette / AM / FM Karaoke System (Electronics)
The system has very good sound. I recently did a concert for in an 80 seat room, and the sound easily reached the back row. I would recommend the system. However, re ease of use -- if you are planning to perform a one person show you'd be better off getting a system with number buttons on the machine. I.e., if you need to play #8, you push #8.
The remote has number keys, but the remote doesn't always work. The other issue I have is that you can't simply restart the current track, pushing the << button takes you back to the previous track, then you'll have to go forward. That's kind of messed up.

disappointed,
This review is from: VocoPro DVD-Duet 80W CD / Dual Cassette / AM / FM Karaoke System (Electronics)
I payed a lot of money for the Vocopro Duet. I was happy with the features and sound quality, but the CD player quit working properly before the first year. I contacted the company and they sent me another one. I was able to use the new one for two years and then the CD player gave out completely (no longer under warranty). I took it to a shop to fix it and it would have cost me just as much to fix it as it would to buy a new one. I was very disappointed in the quality of this product. I now have about $500.00 worth of CDGs and no system to play them with. I am very hesitant to buy another VocoPro product.

Has survived over a year at poolside, so more durable than it appears,

Terms:
VP = VocoPro DVD-Duet. H10 = Sony ZS-H10CP Heavy-Duty CD Radio Boombox My first impression of the VP, with its plastic knobs & pasteboard back, was that it would wear out quickly, but it has survived poolside (providing voice & CD-music to water aerobics classes) for over a year. First, some comments on its features, and then on its sound quality. The VP does not have an Aux Input jack, so to play an IPod through it I use one of the two microphone jacks. There are separate volume controls for the two microphone inputs, but no separate volume control for either the CD player or the (two) cassette players. The FM sounds like the absolutely cheapest tuner possible, and may or may not be Stereo FM. The FM tuner is analog, not digital, and its sound is coarse. My impression is that the AM/FM was added simply to advertise that the VP had it. The CD player has lower tolerance with CD errors than any other CD player I know. The sound quality compared to the Sony H10 boombox (which is rated at 2.3 watts per speaker): The H10 has cleaner base, yet the VP has significantly better highs. I've never used the (two) cassette players. In summary, I rated the VP as four stars because, after a recent Web search, I found no competitor with its features for its price.

My husband and I sing (make a joyful noise unto the Lord) and this machine is great. We sing at the jail and nursing home. It's a very good product.

I have purchased other portable karaoke systems in the past as gifts only to find the systems to be weak in performance. When it was time to buy one for myself I wanted a system that I could take to parties and pack a punch. I found the system! As a previous reviewer noticed I was concerned by the look of th system and the fact that it appeared similar in quality to some other peoples "toys". That is where the similarities end.
I picked up a great catalog of CDG's on Ebay and now I'm set for all the holiday parties!

This system sounds good and we like it. The speaker is quiet good and has enough put out for in home practice for sure. The only complaint I have about it is the fact that you can only record yourself singing along with a CD onto a cassette. I thought that it would be capable of letting someone record themselves singing along with another cassette karaoke tape because it has two tape decks. If you don't mind buying karaoke music CD's to practice by this unit is great. However, CD,s are quite exspensive and that,s why I only give it a 3 star rating because I wanted to use karaoke cassettes as well. I called customer service and was told that vocopro has recently made a unit that will do this feature but I could not find one so I am keeping this one.

Had it for 1 month, sound quality is great but difficult to jump from song to song. Didn't use the tape deck and a few other features on it yet but after reading these reviews, I will use them to make sure they work!

My $300 door stop,
By
This review is from: VocoPro DVD-Duet 80W CD / Dual Cassette / AM / FM Karaoke System (Electronics)
I liked the unit very much when it was working but it was extremely frustrating when NO Disc occurred when attempting to access. Sound is superb and microphones are well constructed. Controls and remote are easy to use and nicely designed.
However, reading of CD's has been poor but the VocoPro support was insinuating that quality of CD was poor or damaged.CD's played on other players. Consumer is responsible for shipping when initiating warranty. Tended to discourage use of warranty. This machine is basically a $300 door stop at this point in time. I have recently read that others are having the same problem but VocoPro is not accepting responsibility. When trying to decide on an all in one player, I narrowed the search down to VocoPro and Cav but decided on the DVD-Duet as a result of the reputation of VocoPro. It sounds like they are becoming the General Motors of the karaoke industry. I would have hoped that the company would have stood behind their product and realized that there is definitely a quality control issue. Finally, if they make such a fine product why would they have the consumer pay shipping in both directions? A good product would have no need for shipping. A suggestion would be if once sent and warranty work was deemed necessary then reimbursement of shipping would be at the company's expense;otherwise, the shipping charges would stand.

Worst purchase in a long time.,
This review is from: VocoPro DVD-Duet 80W CD / Dual Cassette / AM / FM Karaoke System (Electronics)
I have owned my vocopro for about a year and half. In that time I have only used it 3 times. The DVD reader has died and to get it replaced I was quoted $200. I only paid $265 for it new. I bought it because I was told it was the best. Trust me it is junk. Now I have a vocopro paper weight.
