Product Description

The Durango by Vogelzang is a no-nonsense, hard-working plate steel heating unit designed specifically to produce a hotter fire for longer periods of time with exceptionally low emissions. Higher levels of performance come from Turbo Burn technology which delivers air through cross-drilled reburn tubes in the top of the airtight firebox, resulting in more complete combustion. This produces a hotter fire while extending the burn time up to 12 hours! Fan circulates warm air throughout room. Meets stringent emission performance standards for the state of Washington. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great wood stove, December 6, 2010

This review is from: Vogelzang Durango Wood-Burning Stove with Blower - Model# TR008 (Misc.)
This is the second winter I have heated my home with this stove, and I love it. This stove is sturdily built and VERY heavy assembled. I selected this stove as it qualified for the tax-rebate, is UL listed (a requirement for my homeowner's insurance). Our area has an abundance of readily available free/cheap wood, and I wanted to save on energy cost. I bought a display model pre-assembled, which was missing a couple of pieces, and the Vogelzang website and customer service folks were very helpful. This winter, with properly seasoned wood, it has been my sole-source of heat for my +/-1,500-SF house. The blower seems a little undersized, but overall it does the job. Also, the blower controls are not exactly self-explanatory. This stove is different than stoves I was used to growing up, in that it doesn't have an ash tray or grates. However, this hasn't been a problem and I think I might even prefer it this way now. There is a metal shelf below the door to catch debris that may fall that works well. Please read your instructions very carefully. This stove, as purported, will hold a fire overnight (which is a GREAT improvement from the stoves of my childhood), but does require regular attention. I like the appearance of the stove, but it may be a bit utilitarian for some. I would recommend to anyone looking to burn wood.
