REAL AYU-REAL VOGUE,
By Lee Qi (China) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vogue (Audio CD)
I think "vogue"is Ayu' best single, the instrumental is great, and the lyrics is so successful!Ayu wanted to say that there's some same thing in "vogue"&"the flowers"&"you":"It was so wonderful in the days when you were mine, but after you've gone, there's nothing left."-Just like the vogue in heartplace.Ayu didn't choose which song's welcome before sings, she just sings what she wants to sing, that's why her songs are the real VOGUE.

Come on and Vogue,

The title of this song confused me a bit, since I kept thinking of Madonna's "Vogue" when I listened to the song and realized the lyrics had nothing to do with the title..unless Ayumi is trying to say the Latin-influenced beats of her song are in vogue (it has an Enrique Iglesias feel to it). But regardless of the title, this was the first Ayumi single and I'm definitely pleased. The remixes are wonderful club tracks, particular track 2 which has Ayumi's voice in vocoder. I hope the quality of "Vogue" continues on in the rest of her music.

vogue is an interesting song. It is not similar to any of her previous ones. Ayu does a good job exploring new elements in music. Lately she has gone more rock, but she is still good. This is the first part to a story consisting of vogue, Far away, and SEASONS. i recomend getting all three, or the album Duty. ever free is an exra track on this single. It is short but one of her best songs. i would buy it just for that song.

One of Ayu's Best Singles,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vogue (Audio CD)
I purchased this from a seller who went by the name "Kansuigyo" and have mixed feelings about it. For one, I ordered the Endless Sorrow single from a different seller on the same day, paid the same price in shipping and got it literally only three days later. Vogue arrived much much later. I realize that Vogue arrived in the time frame that Amazon gave to me but I find it wierd that a seller of almost the same product could beat that by a mile while "Kansuigyo" couldn't....or didn't. Another thing is, and IDK if all her booklets for the Vogue single looked this way, but the one I recieved with the cd seemed like a reproduction of the original. It's only due to the quality of the photo on the front that made me wonder. Like it came from a photo copier or color printer instead of how Ayumi's jacket art usually looks. The rest of the booklet is on really thick paper. Never the less the actual cd was in near perfect condition just like I was promised.
About the actual cd: Vogue may be one of Ayumi's most enticing songs. To me the title simply means that love may come and go with the seasons just like a trend does. Vogue literally means 'in style.' The music has a flare of the medeterranian in it with it's beat, however, I would ask that fans please realize the obvious Chinese flare to this song too. In other words, Vogue is not a song that can easily be described. It's what I would consider art pop and needs to be listened to very closely, and many times in order to be undertsood clearly. The remixes are all top notch, my favorites being "HAL's MIX 2000", "Dub's Mellowtech", Too Late "Soul Solution", and Whatever "FPM'S Winter Bossa Nova". The song Ever Free, which is a bonus track and can only be found on this single(except for the Orchestra version found on her 3rd Acoustic Mix album). I honetsly think it's one of Ayu's sadest and prettiest songs. Fans of Memorial Address, Unitled-for her-, and Life will really enjoy it I think. I would highly recomend this single to both Ayu fans and jpop lovers alike! |
