I gave British Vogue as a gift for my mom. Unfortunately, someone else gave her the same thing. My mom decided she would be happy with a 2 year subscription. First, Amazon did not help me at all to find out who to contact about this purchase. After much research, and several overseas phonecalls, I finally figured out the right number at Condenast. However, I have...

British Vogue is an absolute top-notch publication that I would recommend to anyone who is seeking a fashion magazine that is truly about fashion. So much more interesting than its American counterpart, I adore and await nearly each issue that is released (naturally, as with any magazine, there are always months [usually January and July] that are not as stellar as the others). The editorials are almost consistently cutting-edge and the covers still feature models much of the time, as opposed to actresses each and every month. It really does celebrate Britain but it always has an eye on other parts of the globe. The paper on which this magazine is printed is also lovely - always heavy and nice to the touch - and of course the cover is glossy (unlike the matte American Vogue covers that the subscribers are left with). And the occasional "Catwalk Specials" supplements are great - covering so many different shows and "trends" - all smartly laid out.

The companion British Vogue web site is also one of the best on the Internet. Each day they update a "Vogue Dailies" section wherein you can read the latest fashion/designer (and yes, sometimes gossip) news.

I just love this version of Vogue and I wish that the subscription rate was not as costly as it is. For now, I am content to always buy the March and September issues and most months in between.

4.0 out of 5 stars British Vogue is for those seeking style not fashion, January 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Vogue - British Edition (Magazine)
British Vogue is much more "useful" than its American sister publication and covers "real" trends. The woman covered/photographed seem more intersted in "style" than "fashion". The articles appear to be higher qualitly and written for an intelligent reader. The British edition is a "slicker" smarter version. It makes one think of the Vogue of days gone buy. Spendy subscription rate, but very useful for those seeking to build a wardrobe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sophisticated but Practical, October 11, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Vogue - British Edition (Magazine)
Like most women in the UK, Vogue features fashion that is low-maintenance and stylish. Unlike the US, French, Italian mags, the British edition is for the true brit: easy, fun, casual fashion that is practical for every day life. The only problem is they tend to feature Kate Moss on the cover WAY too much.

First, Amazon did not help me at all to find out who to contact about this purchase. After much research, and several overseas phonecalls, I finally figured out the right number at Condenast. However, I have called--overseas, several times and waited on hold for 5-10 minutes, never being able to speak with a human being. I am frustrated and spending money unnecessarily! I would email, but can't until I get the subscription # which comes on the first issue. Hopefully, that will resolve the problem.

3.0 out of 5 stars Half & Half--In Some Ways Better than American Edition, In Some Ways to the Contrary, December 9, 2011
This review is from: Vogue - British Edition (Magazine)
In contrast to the glowing reviews some have gave Vogue UK Edition, I would say its a 50%-50% toss-up in comparing the positive and negative features of Vogue UK Edition to its American counterpart. While I agree with the other reviewers' commentary on Vogue UK featuring better articles when covering style and trends with greater frequency, Vogue UK lacks the articles that put fashion into a cultural perspective such as those written by Plum Sykes [Brit ex-pat] in the US Edition. Both magazines fare about even in flaws when it comes to covers: The US Edition is too celebrity-focused, while many times the UK Edition fails to give readers a significant reason why a particular person is cover worthy--just being a model or wealthy enthusiast of fashion is not enough of a reason. If one looks at the past twelve months of Vogue UK's covers, an abundance of heavily made-up(to compensate for plain features)hair dyed-blondes with colorful, albeit well-selected outfits (that rather emphasize the plain features point than detract from it...) predominate the covers. While living in the UK, I gave it a read, but accounting for the price of shipping to the US, it's just not worth it.
If one wants an edition of Vogue (Anna Wintour's biases free) and have the extra funds to spend on an international subscription, Vogue French Edition (highly recommended) is a better bet--the articles are well written, covering the spectrum of fashion as art, utility item and an aspect of culture, as are the fashion layouts and ads well-structured, with a balance between celebrity and someone who has a defintive style(which are great even if one can't read the language).

I bought this as a christmas gift for my GF and she loves it. The issues starting arriving exactly when promised. The magazines are of much higher quality than their american counterpart (better paper, larger format, less movie stars on the cover who don't know the first thing about fashion). Great gift idea. Only downside is it is monstrously expensive. Renewing and managing the subscription online from amazon.com is easy as well.

I have been ripped off by Amazon. Never received magazine and emails go unanswered. Buy elsewhere.
