Written for the intermediate to experienced knitter, but not too ambitious for the adventurous beginner; this book begins with wispy ethereal lace shawls and progresses to warm bulky weight wraps. The shawls are beautifully photographed. This will be a book you will return to again and again for inspiration.
There are plenty of charts; most in color and the instructions include a substitute yarn.
Yarn weight is given for each project which also makes it easier to substitute yarns. I am wondering if I can get any of these beauties knit before the holidays if I start now?

This has something for everyone - from lacy beaded shawls for a fancy night out, to warm snuggly wraps to keep you warm on a cold winter night. I would make the majority of the patterns in this book, there are only 2 or 3 that don't appeal to me. If you like shawls and/or wraps, this is a good book to add to your collection.

This is the first vogue knitting collection I have bought, and it will probably be the last. I was unpleasantly surprised at page after page of basic, bulky, and boring patterns. There were only a few that looked like something I'd like to wear (much less knit). Not worth a whole book. Your money would be better spent on a book with stitch patterns. Put them together yourself in a rectangle and - voila! - you will have a wrap. You will have all the tools you need, and the possiblities will be limited only by your imagination.

I always love anything that Vogue publishes and am quite a fan. Imagine how crushed I was when I saw the only charts in the book were for borders, or color knitting. NO CHARTS for the Main Lace Pattern. I am a lace knitter, I knit lace from charts, I will never be able to follow those long winded line by line instructions. I guess I am stuck with just a picture book.

I have NEVER rated a knitting book this low!

There's a wide variety, and there are a few patterns I liked. And of course, there were some patterns where I asked myself, "Is that a handknit Snuggie???" But if I could rate individual patterns in the book, my hands-down, least favorite pattern was the Wide Rib Shrug. Since we don't have a picture available, I would describe it as basically a tube top that goes around your shoulders instead of your breasts, and it is made with really chunky yarn. Why would anyone ever wear this? It looks like it would fall down every time you move your arms and it adds no warmth. Maybe someone wanted to get that Flashdance, off-the-shoulder feeling. Meh... maybe this pattern would be interesting to a very, very inexperienced knitter.

My wife is German and doesn't use the computer. She is also expert at knitting and crocheting. I buy a lot of books for her via Amazon. This one, she says, "stinks to high heaven" She had other words for it but I will not put them here. She thought the patterns
showed were not worth using; that the finished product would be fully out of style with what is being worn today by women.

This book has some very nice shawl patterns. It has good illustration & technique section. I recomend it to anyone liking to knit beautiful shawls and wraps.

The Vogue Knitting Shawls & Wrap books offers many nice patterns that include a wide variety of gauges, skill levels and styles. I could say there are a few that are less than attractive in my opinion, but I would say those are in that minority. There are several classic, timeless shawls that I plan to knit.

I have wanted to purchase this book for quite some time but did not want to pay the retailer's price. I ordered it through Amazon with some trepidation but received it in excellent condition and in a short amount of time. It made me order another craft book from Amazon and I will continue to do so as the experience has proven to be a good one.

ORDERED THIS FOR A FRIEND WHO ALL READY HAS AND LOVES THIS BOOK TO GIVE AS A GIFT. HAS LOTS OF PRETTY PATTERNS TO TRY.
