4.0 out of 5 stars Good nand but hard to put on
This makes the third watch band I have put on the Timex watch. Each lasts about 2 years and due to normal wear and time, breaks.

After 1st time I had to put a band on, I learned the trick, take an razor and trim off the little protusion on the upper edge. It is what make putting the band on such a pain. Once gone, it is relatively simple to do.

1.0 out of 5 stars Designed Obsolescence
Although I love the watch, the invariable need to replace the band every year and a half (or less) is a pain. I have a hard time believing Timex Ironman watches could suffer from this same problem for such an extended period of time w/o Timex addressing it. I have found that taking the pins out often damages the soft plastic to the point that the watch will no longer...

I have found that taking the pins out often damages the soft plastic to the point that the watch will no longer hold the pins, requiring the purchase of a new watch. I'm done w/ this product.

I had the same experience as the other reviewer, spending half an hour trying to insert the pin, bending the tool and so forth. I've had this watch a couple of years, and it's a fantastic watch -- UNTIL YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE BAND. By the time I locate someone who can do it... IF he can do it... I will have spent the price of a new watch on transporation and the guy's labor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch Bands, October 31, 2008
This review is from: Voguestrap TX253151 Allstrap 16mm Black Regular-Length Fits Ironman Triathlon Watchband (Watch)
I found the bands on Amazon by accident. I have two 16mm watches. They never die, but the bands crack. I was glad to save about [....] on a new watch, and get about a year or so out of the new Band. Easy to install, once I figured out that one side of the watch socket has a slot to insert the pin.

3.0 out of 5 stars Darn hard to install, but worth it, March 2, 2009

The design of the Timex watch and watchband makes it very difficult to replace the watchband. Even with the provided tool, getting the spring bar to slip into place is pretty difficult. However, your choices are limited. Once, I replaced the watch band on my Timex Ironman with a generic alternative. I was able to install it easier, but the band didn't flex or fit quite right with the way the watch is designed, and I had to replace it with this Timex brand original.

It takes me ~30 minutes to replace the watch band. I've done this a few times over the last 5 years, and I feel like I'm getting better at it. It's worth replacing the band rather than buying a new watch if you have the patience to replace the band yourself.

I have purchased these several times over the years.
As near as I can tell these are the same as the orginal product.
I get about 18 months wear each time. before something fails.
It us usually the band that catches the tail of the strap.
However, at that point the wear is showing and repalcement seems due.
If you are very determined I think you could put the replacement strap on as is but I have found that if you take an Exacto knife and trim the tab on the back side of the strap where it hits the watch body it is much easer to put the strap on the watch. You don't have to fight to compress that tab against the case. It still takes a couple of tries and having one of those pin compression tools that comes with most of these straps (not all) does help get it in the little holes. Younger eyes than mine might also help.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fit, June 16, 2008

Installation was a pain. The tool that comes with the band doesn't work well; just use a very small screw driver. Voguestrap warns to only use it with 3 particular models, but it worked as a replacement on my T53351 which had a "fast wrap" band.

1.0 out of 5 stars impossible to do yourself!, April 11, 2008

This watchband is impossible to replace yourself! It comes with a little metal tool, ostensibly to push the spring into place, but it simply does not work! I spent 45 minutes trying to install a new watch band, bent the tool, and finally gave up because I was convinced I'd probably inflict bodily harm with the flimsy tool from trying to force the spring into place. Now I'm hoping a watchmaker can do the job. Obviously, this is Timex's way of insuring people buy new watches rather than deal with the aggravation of trying to replace an existing watch with a watch band. Don't bother!

4.0 out of 5 stars The watch is great....the band, not so much, July 11, 2011
This review is from: Voguestrap TX253151 Allstrap 16mm Black Regular-Length Fits Ironman Triathlon Watchband (Watch)
This will be (would have been) my third watch band in 2 years with my Ironman. The "keeper" that keeps the watchband end from flipping out has split and fallen off...again. I was thinking of spending the $12 plus shipping for new band but after reading of the difficulty of putting them on, and remembering same, I'm going with another brand.
I've had Timex Ironman watches since they first came out but we must part ways. It seems that they've decided on "planned obsolescence" to increase their profit margin...a margin to which I will no longer contribute.

I looked every where for a replacement strap for my ironman. This is the only place that I could find one. My original strap was fabric and that is what I wanted as a replacement, but that didn't seem to be an option. This one is listed as a resin replacement, it does fit well and is comfortable to wear. When it breaks I will buy another one.
