UK Oi! at it's finest,
By Christy (Tennessee) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Voice of a Generation (Audio CD)
This contains some of the catchiest Oi! ever released. This is a rare gem filled with powerful songs that make you wanna jump around and smash something. Every song on here is near Oi! perfection. From the opening track "We Are The Boys"..you are sure to turn whatever area you're listening to it into a moshpit. Other great tracks "I Don't Need You" , "Propaganda" , "Criminal Damage" , "Warriors" , "4Q" , and "Someones Gonna Die". My only small complaint..I know that this is the debut album , but I wish "Razors in The Night" and "New Age" were added as bonus tracks and even "Fatigue" and "Youth" which were only released as singles on 7'' , and can usually only be found on Greatest Hits comps or Punk Comps.word of advice:DO NOT LISTEN TO WHILE DRIVING A VEHICHLE!! ( I learned this the hardway )

Oi! Oi! Oi!,
This review is from: Voice of a Generation (Audio CD)
In the early '80s, England saw an uprising of many different sub- genres of punk rock. There was the crust/anarchist style of punk, led by bands such as Crass and the Subhumans, there was the extreme hardcore style played by Dischsarge and Conflict, and there were the streetpunk bands such as the Exploited and GBH. Another important genre was the oi! style of punk rock.
Oi! was started by bands like Sham 69, The Anti Nowhere League, and the UK Subs. However, I dont think the genre reached it's prime until the release of this album and "Suburban Rebels" by the Business. Oi! bands in the past made great singles, but unsolid studio albums, which is why this release was a classic. There is not one song on this album that is bad. The album starts to get a little boring in the middle, but is made up for by songs like "Scream", "4Q", and "Moscow", some of the best oi! songs ever recorded. While I dont think this is the best Oi! album ever released, it definately needs to be in every punk's collection. Blitz have had a massive effect on modern streetpunk, and is perfect if you want music that is loud, agressive, and catchy. Best songs are "We are the Boys", "Scream", "Moscow", "Someones Gonna Die", and "Never Surrender". Then again, not a single song sucks.

One of the best & most influential albums of 80's Punk,
By A Customer
This review is from: Voice of a Generation (Audio CD)
This album is full of great songs; you can play it over & over again without being borred. This album released in 82 has had a large impact since, almost everry other band has tried to duplicate their sound in some of their songs.
