4.0 out of 5 stars surprisingly good Oi!, May 19, 2003

I hate most Oi. I think most of it's slow, boring, boneheaded mush. Sure, it can be catchy. Sure, it's "anthemic" with lyrics for "working class" youth. But how many times can you hear the same lyrics about fighting, drinking, hating communists and nazis, and hanging out with "the boys"?
So why do I love Blitz? I'm not quite sure. Maybe it's because they are typically a little bit more uptempo than their Oi! bretheren. Could also be that the band was made up of both skinheads and punks, which sort of channeled the best of both aesthetics into one band. Unlike pure skinhead bands like Last Resort of Combat 84, Blitz has a lot of punk attitude and sneer, and the songs' tempos don't just sound like a bunch of Doc Martens stomping in place endlessly.
My favorite tracks from Blitz are the earliest, from the "All Out Attack" 7". Every song on that record is an instant punk classic, with, of course, "Someone's Gonna Die" being the standout. It is about beating people up, but, sheesh, who cares? And listen to that buzzsaw guitar that begins "Attack"! It sounds like electrodes sizzling into your flesh! It's a total raw masterpiece.
The more polished later tracks are good too... more melodic, though. "Nation on Fire," "Propaganda," "Moscow" and "Voice of a Generation" are great songs. I especially like "Propaganda," with its great "I can see many reds underneath my bed..." bridge.
So, take it from me... I hate most Oi! and this stuff is genius. I don't even feel guilty listening to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must, April 1, 2002

I cannot even begin to describe how good this is , especially this new "No Future Years" release featuring finally for the first time "Razors In The Night" and "New Age" on the same album as the original Voice album. Plus we get all the other No Future 7'' tracks(minus anything that was done for The Killing Dream which is a good thing) Now this album isn't perfect , but rarely any album ever is. It has some great songs , and some duds. The opening "We Are The Boys" assures you that this is going to be one kicking album until you get to "Time Bomb" which isn't very memorable. The songs that are duds are pretty much only "Bleed" (in this release we get two versions of a song that isn't good at all). "T.O" which is just the same line repeated through the whole song that is nothing but filler material , and a decent but too slow "Closedown". This album receives 5 stars because it has too many good songs (32 in all) to merit a 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars If I was stranded on a desserted island I would want this album with me, June 26, 2008

It's so hard to pick a favorite album, but I would have to say this is up there in the top 10. I love every song on this album including their amazing cover of vicious by Lou Reed. I love the lyrics they write, I swear they are one of the most poetic oi bands to ever exist. Anyway you really should buy this album cause it's got all the good stuff on it!
