Voice of Hatred was the 2005 release from German death-turned-thrash metal band Contradiction. This band is kind of hard to classify. They don't march in lock-step with the traditional Kreator/Destruction German thrash sound, but they're not full-on death metal either. I hear a mix of the Haunted, Slayer, and Pantera, which makes for an interesting overall sound.

I'm not a huge thrash fan, but I ended up liking Voice of Hatred a lot more than I thought I would. For one thing, Contradiction isn't averse to using melody, which is something of a contradiction (sorry, couldn't resist) for a thrash band. I also like their use of chugging grooves as well as traditional thrash riffing. The vocals are almost entirely growled/screamed, and help give the album an intense and aggressive energy. Fortunately Voice of Hatred maintains that aggression without venturing off into hardcore territory.

I'd recommend Voice of Hatred to just about any open-minded thrash fan. The album appeals on more than one level, and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for future Contradiction albums.

Contradiction deliver the thrashin goods on this one. Heavy, thrashy, and Heavy some more. I would say it is a mix of Bay Area thrash with a little Pantera mixed in. Killer songs backed by a beefy production that will keep your neck snappin. They also have a new release out that crushes as well, but i have not seen it in the US as of this review.
