5.0 out of 5 stars The ethereal voice of a broken heart, July 3, 2000
This review is from: Voice of Love (Audio CD)
Julee Cruise's second album, produced by Lynch and Badalamenti, continues the musical exploration of the producers. If you like the first CD, you are going to love this one too. Some of the tracks are inspired in tunes composed by Badalamenti for Lynch's "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me". Some others also appeared in the video-concert "Industrial Symphony #1". The bests songs in the album are "Up in flames", "Kool Kat Walk" (songs we heard before in "Wild at heart"), "She would die for love" and "Questions in a world of blue" (which according to the script of TP:FWWM is the most beautiful love song ever...) I hope someday Julee Cruise release another album to keep on hearing her somewhat naive and ethereal voice.

Julee Cruise creates a very special mood with all of her songs. Of particular interest is the track "Kool Kat Walk". I'm a big fan of anything "Twin Peaks". Julee is mentioned in "Wrapped In Plastic". Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) is a friend of hers and insisted that she sing the music for TPFWWM and also appear in the movie.

Julee Cruise recently sang with the B-52s in their live concert.

5.0 out of 5 stars lynchamenti infused, July 20, 2004
This review is from: Voice of Love (Audio CD)
I was sceptical when I got this cd at first cause I had only heard "questions in a world of blue"off the fire walk with me soundtrack.I guess I was concerned that the rest of the disc might be fruitty for the most part, but I was very wrong.both this and her first album are in a tripped-out lazy/chill class of their own!with lynch on lyrics and ange on atmosphere, this is a weird sort of "supergroup"as it's sometimes said.if you like dark ,sultry lounge music you'll probably wear out this cd in no time if that's even possible!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tell your heart, don't let her die, March 15, 2000

Julee Cruise's first solo album was an excellent companion piece to the "Twin Peaks" soundtrack, but this follow-up effort received little attention and almost seems like an afterthought. The songs are decent enough, and fans who want more of the "Twin Peaks" sound won't be disappointed; the formula for these tracks is pretty much the same. Angelo Badalamenti's lush arrangements flow dreamlike under her angel's breath vocals, echoing the mood of many of David Lynch's films. In fact, versions of "Kool Kat Walk" and "Up In Flames" appeared on the "Wild At Heart" soundtrack, while "Questions In A World Of Blue" and the title track were both included on the "Fire Walk With Me" soundtrack from the year before. "She Would Die For Love" revisits the "Theme From Twin Peaks - Fire Walk With Me," only this time with vocals. Lynch also sculpted the clay head on the cover of this CD (check out the documentary "Pretty As A Picture" for the full story behind it). Sadly, Cruise's activity has dwindled in the years since the famed TV series ended, but this disc provides some of the last musical snapshots of that period.

4.0 out of 5 stars She really is "The Voice Of Love"., June 15, 2004

I'll assume anyone looking this up is familiar with her work, therefore know that this is pretty much "Floating Into The Night" part 2, which by the way is a very good thing. Some of the songs here we've heard in other "David Lynch" films, like "Wild At Heart", and of course this is very much like the "Twin Peaks" soundtrack as well, as she was on that. Her voice is truly angelic, and one of her albums is a must. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreamy, December 18, 1999
This review is from: Voice of Love (Audio CD)
This Cd along with "Floating into the Night" are as haunting as they get. Julee's voice was the perfect choice in making David Lynch's lyrics and Angelo Badalamenti's music come together with such a dreamy sound. If you are looking for great music to chill out to, listen to this. It will put you in a totally different state of mind.

THIS CD IS A GREAT COMPANION PIECE TO THE ETHEREAL DARKNESS OF "TWIN PEAKS". "QUESTIONS IN A WORLD OF BLUE" IS UPLIFTING AND TOTALLY HEARTBREAKING ALL AT THE SAME TIME. THE MUSIC ON THIS CD WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME. YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO PURCHASE IT, UNLESS OF COURSE EVERY SINGLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE IS ROSES. COMMENTS WELCOME AT nick82e@hotmail.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Send me more dreamy Twin Peaks music., June 20, 2000
This review is from: Voice of Love (Audio CD)
I really like this kind of music. This CD is much like the Floating into the Night CD, and the Twin Peaks soundtrack, so if you liked any of those you will like this one. I particularly liked the first piece, the next few, and the last few. Can anyone inform me of any music they know which is like these pieces?

Enchanting spiritual romantic music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impossible to define - impossible to forget, August 14, 2010
This review is from: Voice of Love (Audio Cassette)
First let me give a heartfelt shout out to all of the kindred spirits out there who wrote such glowing reviews for this album. I've played Julie's music for so many people over the years who just didn't get it, I expected to find mixed ratings here and was very elated to find a ranking of 4 and a half stars, which I think is right on the money. Julie, you posess a beauty that time will never erase as it so utterly transcends physicality. Your voice has lulled me to sleep countless nights into dreams as surreal as the movies of David Lynch himself. I must give equal credit to Mr. lynch for his lyrical genius and to the Bad Angel who'se eerily beautiful droning melodies shall forever haunt my imagination.
