5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection, March 13, 2009
This review is from: Voice of the Sixties/Sommer's Season (Audio CD)
Joanie Sommers brings her bell-like clarity and perfect pitch to a wonderful selection of songs. Her vibrato and dynamics are always within her control. It is a shame that she was steered into pop/rock, because her ability with jazz and small ensembles is unmatched.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great singer matched with great arrangements, November 21, 2011

This review is from: Voice of the Sixties/Sommer's Season (Audio CD)
A couple of great albums by a singer who definitely was a "Voice of The Sixties"- or any decade, for that matter. Joanie Sommers had the kind of singing voice that worked well with jazz, pop or standards....and the arrangements here (by Neal Hefti and Stan Applebaum) are terrific. Joanie is, fortunately, still very much with us; unfortunately, she hasn't put out any recordings in some time. This reissue by Collector's Choice Music was only released in 2008; it's my understanding that it's already out-of-print! Shame on them for deleting it so soon.

This CD portrays her unique and pure voice extremely well. It is a marvelous way to bring back memories of the 60s. Thanks
