5.0 out of 5 stars The real deal....

The Soledad Brothers have been around for ten years, and they may one of the last Detroit bands from the scene that spawn The White Stripes and The Von Bondies. They have released many albums but nothing that expresses their rage and glory. Voice of treason may that record that catapults them into the forebrain of the collective imagination. 3.0 out of 5 stars Great Potential & Poor Production
This cd could have been twice as good as it is if these guys would hire a bass player and upgrade there recording production. Half of the songs are "tinny" and are definetly lacking a bass line to drive the melody's. These guys have got potential though. There music is kinda alt-blues-rocky. They are somewhat trying to come off as 'White Strip-ish" with the guitar,drum,...

They are dedicated to the blues. "Cage That Tiger" is a sign of good things to come. Some bands think that they are playing the blues, but listen to things like "Son of Dogs" and you know that this band is the rightful heir to John Lee Hooker and Canned Heat. I look forward to checking these guys out live for real. They seem like a band that should break out. The blues live on in this music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soledad justs keeps getting better!, November 10, 2003

Once again, these gentlemen have managed to capture the essence of how modern rock and roll should sound. Rooted of course in blues, Johnnie, Ben and Oliver have expanded their sound to include a more eclectic nature. But, the core of the album still has these 3 men from Ohio rocking and having a lot of fun doing it. I highly recomend this album if you would like to hear a creative, fresh interpertation of the blues and the horde of rock artists to spawn from its influence.

These guys are great. They played my town and I went out and bought the CD right after I saw them live. Really wild and thoughtful rock songs with some serious cool Blues. Really enjoying this one.

Half of the songs are "tinny" and are definetly lacking a bass line to drive the melody's. These guys have got potential though. There music is kinda alt-blues-rocky. They are somewhat trying to come off as 'White Strip-ish" with the guitar, drum, no bass gig. It works ok on 1/2 the songs, but the other half aren't all that good with this kind of set up. There are 5 or 6 decent songs, and the rest are below average. Three stars tops.
