The heiress to Madonna's throne...,

There's no doubt that Christina is Pop's current Queen. From teen pop singer to bad a** belter, she's taken the world by storm over the past year and has left everyone in her trail of dust. 'The Voice Within' is quite possibly the final single from the mega-selling, multi-platinum album Stripped (though I don't know this for sure). It follows in the tradition of last Christmas' massive hit 'Beautiful' and is a perfect choice for the holiday season. Aguilera is truly a people person, sending out messages around the world about inner beauty and strength, equality, and confidence. There aren't too many artists around quite like Miss A. While the powerful words are wonderful, Christina also possesses the powerhouse pipes to actually deliver the song (yet another quality that sets her apart). Inspiring to say the least...The one thing that kinda has me confused about this single is the track listing. Of all the 'Voice Within' singles being released worldwide at this time, I have yet to come across one that actually has these tracks. The best 'Voice Within' single I could find is available from the UK (and possibly mainland Europe as well) and contains the following tracks: 1. The Voice Within (radio edit) (4:15) By the way, the Canadian 'The Voice Within' single contains the radio edit plus an extended pop remix of 'Fighter.' All in all, buying any Christina cd is never a waste of time and money. Cheers!

Christina's Got The Voice Within,

As 2003 was drawing to a close Christina Aguilera will have looked back on what a phenomenal year she had just experienced. A multi-million selling album called "Stripped," major international hit singles, powerful videos and a growing fanbase that never dropped. In December of 2003 she released "The Voice Within," the fifth and final single from her Stripped album. It charted at No.9 in the UK charts, which rounded off a successful round of five UK Top 10 hit singles back-to-back from that album. The Voice Within begins with a simple piano playing the song in before Christina sings, "Young girl don't cry, I'll be here when your world starts to fall. Young girl it's alright, your tears will dry you'll soon be free to fly. Ooh. When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream, of a place where nothing's harder than it seems. No one every wants to bother to explain, of the heartache life can bring and what it means." Christina then moves swiftly into the chorus, "When there's no one else look inside yourself. Like your oldest friend just trust the voice within. Then you'll find the strength that will guide your way. You'll learn to begin to trust the voice within." Christina's voice is already very good at this stage of the song with nothing but the piano accompanying her. The beat then grows and Christina sings the second verse and the second chorus. Her voice gradually increases in power, and you get the feeling that this is just another typical Mariah rip-off ballad. The beat takes a turn and Christina sings, "Life is a journey. It can take you anywhere you choose to go. As long as you're learning you'll find all you ever need to know. (Be strong). You'll break it. (Hold on). You'll make it. Just don't forsake it because (No one can tell you what you can't do) no on can stop you, you know that I'm talking to YOU!" The song then stops for a second and you take notice because it's like Christina is really talking to you, then she sings the chorus again until the end with such power and emotion in her voice. With the things Christina went through in her life to reach her ultimate goal, it can be expected and it shows through her voice. The video to The Voice Within works very good with the song. It involves Christina sat on a stool in the middle of a television studio, with no one else about. It looks like a cold place and nothing but her thin white dress is holding those puppies in! Her jet black hair actually works in this video, unlike in the Can't Hold Us Down video. The camera never changes shot. It always stays focused on Christina and the devotion she has to the song. She then moves around and starts running through the studio and into the street, barefoot. No one else is about in the night and the whole video being filmed in black and white was a genius touch. All in all, The Voice Within may not have been the best single to be taken from the Stripped album (those odes belong to "Dirrty" and "Beautiful"), but it is still a fantastic power ballad and very inspirational.

Christina's Voice Within,

"The Voice Within" is the fifth release from her smash hit album "Stripped". This ballad displays Christina as one of the great female singers of modern day. Her monumental big voice shines on this track. She never holds back a drop of emotion on a single note. She displays her lyric-writing efforts wonderfully, expressing what's deep in her heart. This is only one track of many that introduces her music writing talents. Every instrument combined with one another shares a further story about the lyrics. The choir adds and the small orchestra adds more heartfelt intensity that keeps listeners interested. This single includes two versions of "The Voice Within": the album and the radio edit versions. The only difference between the two is the the radio edit removes part of the bridge from the album version. Though, both are equally wonderful. The remixes of her Grammy nominated hit singles "Beautiful" and "Can't Hold Us Down" offer added listening enjoyment to this single. These dance versions offer an alternative way of listening to them. "The Voice Within" single is a great item for hardcore Christina Aguilera fans. This will keep many listeners entertained for a long time. Those pleased with this single should also buy her album "Stripped", which offers a deeper journey into her deepest thoughts and trials.

Good Single,

I think this is a pretty good single. "The Voice Within" is not my favorite Christina song, but It's still very nice. And as for copying Amy Lee, Evanescence released their CD in 2003. Christina's album "Stripped" was released in 2002 - a whole year earlier. How exactly was she copying them? I'm confused.

To call Christina Aguilera's childhood "less than idyllic" would be an understatement. She grew up in a chaotic household with a violent father who subjected her mother to the hell of verbal, mental, and physical abuse. Little Chrissy found herself on the receiving end of her father's rages a few times as well. To escape the horrors of the violence permeating her home, the little girl would go upstairs to her room, close the door, and put on musical performances for her stuffed animals. Those memories inspired the writing of the fifth and final single from Stripped, The Voice Within. A piano-led power ballad in the vein of Beautiful, Christina consoles and encourages her younger self to "look inside yourself" when times get tough. "Life is a journey/It can take you anywhere you choose to go/As long as you're learning/You'll find all you'll ever need to know/You'll make it/Just don't go forsaking yourself/No one can stop you/You know that I'm talking to you!" The appearance of a gospel choir (which is lopped off in the single edit) towards the end enhances the inspirational tone of the track. The black and white video, filmed as a single continuous camera shot and directed by David LaChapelle, is creative. Christina, her black hair pulled up and wearing a white slip, sings the song in an abandoned studio. As the music gains momentum, she runs out of the studio and into the night, lying on a white box looking up into the starry sky. Beautiful will always be Aguilera's signature song. The Fug Remix sports new vocals and a downtempo backdrop that's mellow and slightly futuristic. If I didn't know any better I'd think Sweetback (Sade's band) had a hand in the music. Well Christina is a self-confessed Sade fan so there ya go. The airy keyboards and laidback atmosphere beckon you to close your eyes and just vibe. This mix, along with Keeps Gettin' Better's You Are What You Are (Beautiful), is the best! The female empowerment anthem and fourth single Can't Hold Us Down is given a reggae twist with Da Yard Riddim Mix. "This is for my girls all around the world/Who've come across a man who don't respect your worth/Thinkin' all women should be seen, not heard ... Take a deep breath and say it loud/Never can, never will/Can't hold us down!" Keep an ear out for the slick rap done in a Jamacian patois and it isn't from Lil' Kim! Although The Voice Within is more sappy and cliche than Beautiful, it ties into Stripped's central and universal theme of self-love and empowerment. Plus you get the chill Fug Remix for Beautiful. Ya can't beat that!

She did it again! The girl never fails to amaze. Christina co-wrote this song & she did it beautifully. My favorite line is "Life is a journey, it can take you any where you choose to go". She's one of the best vocalists out there.

Christina is my second fave to mariah carey. She has proven that she can dance, sing, write, and express herself as a strong unique woman. Her stripped album was when I knew she was not just a pop star entertainer. Haters keep hating but you will never bring this girl down. I love you xtina! Keep the music coming!
