Disappointed,

This is just an album of "Best of now and then with some unreleased songs"!! The World Cup official album used to feature singers all over the world to sing soccer-related theme songs for their countries; now it's all gone!
No offense to Kelly Clarkson's fans; but how do you think "Because of You" is a soccer-related song? "Because of you I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt"? That's nonsense. If you check out the import version, you will actually find the album in 2 Discs - with more old hit songs. The record company obviously just wanted to reach to wide range of soccer fans by naming it the "World Cup official album", and include some of your favorite singers, whether you like Shakira or Elvis Presley. I would rather just pay and download the official song and the anthem.

This is just more proof that music labels are completely out of touch with the world around them. None of these songs should ever be played at a football/soccer match - let alone on a compliation for the World Cup.
It's bad from the start and keeps getting worse. It's clearly obvious that Sony is just trying to cash in and with their horrible PR misteps lately (not to mention the train wreck that is the PS3) it's clear Sony's time is almost up. Avoid this album (and Sony, if you can) like the plague.

Disappointing selection of songs. Where is L.Pavoratti's rendition, during FIFA a few years back, NESSUM DORMA! It was incredible and belongs in this CD.
CD should include songs from previous FIFA Championships - that made the people STAND UP and SING!

Okay teh only reason I'm giving this album two stars is because some of the artists on there are realy good.
There are two main problems in the album: 1. Most of the songs have nothing to do with the World Cup. I mean seriously. 2. The songs are quite outdated. I enjoy listening to Mariah, Kelly, Shakira, Elvis, Celine, Whitney and all but their songs had no purpose on this particular album. They should asked to write and perform new songs, it would make more sense. Even Kelly's new Ford song, "Go" would've been better. I'm disappointed in this compilation. I have to say though I delibrately held a grudge against Il Divo because well, I hate SIMON! haha. But I have to admit, these guys can SING. They are really good at what they do and I respect them for that. Toni and Il Divo deserve a pat on the back for their song. As for the people who compiled this album, learn something from the Commonwealth Games' album, might I suggest "Together We Are One" by Delta Goodrem.

Now, it's no secret The Curmudgeon is no fan of football (or soccer for the Americans). Don't like it, never have never will. But even I know what a football song should sound like and trust me, you'll find nothing of the sort anywhere on this wretched, cynical cash-in.
Of course, there's a difference between football chants and football songs. Chants are basically the same thing over and over, wheras songs have verses and a chorus. Over the years there has been some downright criminal attempts at football songs, and there have actually been some great ones (Vindaloo, 3 Lions, World In Motion - which is a rare beast - a great football song AND a great song to boot). They live forever in football stadiums, as fans sing them to the rooftops every game. I'm sure if you LIKED that sort of thing, it'd be great. Now then, can you imagine ANY football supporters, ANYWHERE in the world, singing the likes of Dido, Kelly Clarkston and Toni Braxton? Ah yes, the rousing sound of 10 thousand football fans singing, um, "Why" by Annie Lennox. Of course. Hmmm... you don't think this is just some random selection of songs cobbled together with a weak World Cup theme, do you? It's laughable, it really is. Six months from now this same album will be re-branded The Best Christmas For Idiots Album - Ever! and the same idiots will buy it. Voices from the World Cup? I can imagine.. Voice One: What does this have to do with the World Cup? Voice Two: Nothing, of course. But if there is a picture of a football on it, the empty headed plankton will buy it anyway. Don't even THINK about being fooled. The_Curmudgeon_Hates_You@yahoo.co.uk

I really can't figure out why the album named "the voices from the FIFA World Cup". Many songs in the CD are not related to soccer or FIFA.

I'm only giving this album one star because I can't give it zero...
Don't get me wrong; some of the songs are pretty good- and the artists are all good singers. But I'm rating the album on the whole. This is album is so disappointing for me because... the songs have nothing to do with soccer!!! How can they call this 'official music of the World Cup?' They just put together these previously released songs- and a couple new ones- and the result was this cd. Buy it if you like the artists and the songs. Don't buy it because you wanted soccer-related songs and music. I hope 2010 will remember previous World Cup albums.

"I am a woman in love and I am talking to you and you know how I feel."
I think this is a dedication to all the soccer widows. Seriously. It has been a long time since we heard Barbara or Billy. Buy it because you like oldies not because of soccer.

Who cares if the music has anything to do with soccer or the World Cup. The music is from artist from all over the WORLD. It's a great CD to just pop in a have playing in the background -- wonderful variety. For anyone who likes a good mix of music -- you are sure to enjoy this 2 disc set. I've given 3 as gifts and everyone LOVES it.
