Untold stories of cults and psychiatry,

My mother read this book and couldn't put it down. Then I read it and stayed up until 5 AM to finish it. You may have seen documentaries about life inside cults but you've never heard shocking detail like this. And you may be aware of the pitfalls of modern drug-based psychiatry but this first-hand account brings it to life more vividly than ever before. Marcia's triumph was a miracle -- there will be no doubt of its miraculous nature after you read what she was up against -- that came from the only true source of miracles, Jesus Christ. She expertly blends research-based medicine with a true-life experience of the power of faith to make a compelling case for integrating the two.
There are three scenes in this book that are particularly jaw-dropping: the reaction of the cult when she started hearing self-destructive voices; the actual words of Rev. Moon about how "Jesus failed"; and the time she was sent to a cult-recovery halfway house and realized who was running it. But the most amazing thing is the story of how God broke through to rescue her. This is a book you'll want to pass around.

Marcia Murphy has gone back into her memories, even though it must have been difficult to revisit, to write a book that will educate its readers. The chosen words of this well-written book captivate and move the reader forward as time passes unnoticed. You may find your old beliefs and prejudices falling away as you gain a better understanding of mental illness. My eyes were also opened to life in the Moonie cult and how devastating that is. I hope medical, nursing, dental and pharmacy schools will add this book to their must-read list. I am recommending (giving or loaning) this book to several people in a variety of walks of life: dentist, physician, yoga instructor, police officer, pharmacy student, Army Major, nurses and others.
