It was a regular day....I was tired...eager to plop myself down on the sofa. Joshua, my two year old son came buzzing into the room. Even though tired, I desired to cuddle and wrestle with him. That's what fathers do with sons! While lying on the sofa, I began to call him... "Josh, come over here and let daddy give you a hug." In the typical fashion of a two year old, he replied, "No."
Parents learn early on to adjust the way they say things in order to get a favorable response. This form of negotiation matures in the teen years. This, being my fourth child afforded me the opportunity to use well seasoned manipulation techniques! How do I get my son to come over to the sofa and give me a hug? After some thought I said, "Josh, come cheg zo blah ma!" This nonsensical communication continued for several minutes, catching his interest. He approached with great interest, studying my lips, trying to understand what his father was saying. With each garbled communication Joshua came closer, face twisted with attempts to comprehend. I continued until he got close enough that I could reach and grab him, tickling him frantically. With screams of joy, he began a lifelong pattern of running to his mother, reporting on the antics of his father. Nevertheless, I got my hug!

This review is from: Voices: Understanding and Responding to the Language of Heaven (Paperback)
Excellent book about how God wants us to come close to Him to hear His voice. He wants a close relationship with us just as a parent is to their child.
God has so much for us. He wants us to understand the mystery of our lives and interpret our purpose for being here on this earth.

Steve's approach in "Voices" is very practical as he draws upon what God has spoken to him and taught him through the everyday things of his life. One specific lesson I took away from the book was that being a prophetic vessel doesn't always mean awaiting the obvious, booming voice of God, but that many times it simply comes down to paying attention to the little experiences in life that God is really speaking / teaching through. Through many examples and stories--and often times humorous--Steve demonstrates how much God truly is speaking, and the different ways He goes about conveying the message to our heart, if we'll but recognize it's Him. I recommend this book to anyone who desires a fresh, unique and contemporary perspective on the prophetic.

This book is wonderful for those seeking to hear from God. What I love most about this book is that Steve Witt reveals to us that God's voice is not limited to audible words, dreams, and visions. He comforts us by pointing out the still small voice that we so often ignore, such as gut feelings, coincidences, conversations with others, and so many other daily experiences. God is all accessible. He speaks to each of us. I have had the privilege of being a member of Steve's Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and he is a gifted teacher and prophet. If you long to hear God's voice in your daily life, you must read this book.
