First, if you're considering this lens for a micro 4/3s system, this lens will NOT be an ultra wide, but will function as a 30mm lens as all lenses made for 35mm are magnified by 2x on m4/3 cameras. With so many options available for m4/3s, don't limit yourself to an effective 30mm/4.5 lens! Buy something made for the system to get wider than a 30mm or faster than 4.5. On film cameras or the M9 this lens maintains it's 15mm field of view. It is cropped on the M8 (20mm) and Epson R-D1 (23mm), but still maintains it's wide angle status.

This lens is smaller than any leica super wide, and it's wider than anything leica has ever produced in m mount. Only the relatively large, uncoupled, $3,000+Zeiss 15/2.8 is as wide. I've used this lens on my R-D1 and M8 over the last year, and when I bought it I thought it would be a fun, playful lens. Something unique, but with limited use. I was dead wrong! Because of how small and wide it is, the 15mm Heliar has become my primary tool for street shooting. I am not exaggerating, once stopped down to f8, the ENTIRE field is in focus for this lens - it becomes a super powerful point at shoot! It is sharp and clear at all apertures to my eye. There are several online reviews you can read that provide 100% crops if you want to scrutinize it's performance.

Subjectively, I love the 'look' of this lens more than any other I own, and more than other super wides that cost thousands. I do not have unlimited means, and in this case I'm glad. I didn't waste time with more expensive lenses I wouldn't be as happy with. If you have a film rangefinder, the M8, M9, or R-D1 and are considering a super wide - buy this before you try anything else!

This lens is compact and nicely made, being all metal. From my point of view the compelling reason to own this lens is its diagonal angle of view, which covers a full 110° -- almost double a typical 35mm wideangle lens' normal coverage (of 63°). The resulting images are extraordinary. The field of view is so wide I don't even use a viewfinder on my M9 (although I have an inexpensive 15mm finder). It takes some really cool pictures, I love it!

The lens is no doubt sharp - especially on my NEX. Be warned when mounted to a Leica digital body, you get a purple "glow" along one side of the frame. I'd suggest this for MFT or film cameras - but not the best on digital Leica (M-E for my experience with it).

It's a solid performing lens, well built and have a great look in the resulting images.

As for Adorama - though the listing clearly states it comes with a view finder - they will not honor that and will not ship you one. I pointed out to them that the description states it comes with one and they still refuse to honor that. I suggested they updated the listing so no one else is ripped off. Apparently they have not - so be warned.
