Don't try assembly Xmas eve!!,

The product was inadequately packaged and arrived with chipped sections, split particle board (needed to be glued and clamped to repair), screws ripped out (particle board screw assembly) and inadequate strength even after re-screwed. This is a poorly designed product for assembly. Be prepared to, and be sure to, drill your own pilot holes for the screws - they aren't pre-drilled and screws will not hold in particle board w/o pre-drilling. Also build some reinforcing blocks of wood to glue and/or screw into various corners and joints; otherwise a child bumping into the table will split the fiberboard, "un-squaring" rhe table and weakening its ability to stand. It won't last very long at all w/o reinforcement - on both the air hockey table and the multi-purpose drop-on table - especially all corners.
It seems to work OK in my initial tests once the difficult repairs and assembly were completed; my issue isn't with its use, but its quality and assembly difficulty. If you try to put it together after the kids go to bed on Christmas eve, you'll still be there, swearing, when they wake up. The assembly insrtuctions (I use the term loosely) have six warnings about how to lift and treat the table - almost all of these warnings are due to the weakness of the particle board assembly. After the warnings, and a listing of the parts, there's an eight picture assembly diagram - no words whatsoever for assembly - caution: some of the pictures aren't correct. Otherwise, have a ball!

I'm giving this item 4 stars because now that it is finally put together, our family has really enjoyed it. Having said that though, I need to mention that putting the table together was quite an experience. There were no written instructions, only pictures. The pieces weren't numbered but the screws were which helped.
Two of the braces that support the legs arrived broken. That was a fun discovery at 11 o'clock Christmas Eve. We took them to The Home Depot and their lumber department guys cut some replacement pieces so that worked out in the end. This product is pretty cheaply made but now that it's all put together and getting lots of use, all the hassle was worth it. For $157, it's pretty darn cool.

Be prepared for damaged items....,

We received this table as a Christmas gift. We took it home and when my husband and 9yr old opened it Christmas eve night to set it up it was too damaged to put together. BROKE his heart and nearly ruined his Christmas. My mother purchased it from Target.com and of course after Christmas they were on back order. We then had to purchase through Amazon.com for about $100 more than what was paid at Target.com. Received the 2nd one also damaged, this time we were able to salvage items between the two boxes to make it work. My point is the 2nd box was almost in as bad of shape as the first. Why don't they package them better??? We called and Amazon gave us 1/2 our money back so we kept it even though it is banged up. Moral of the story is if you are purchasing this item be prepared to receive damaged goods and allow yourself time before giving it as a gift as you may have to receive two or three of them to get a complete undamaged set!
