5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Science-y Indie Pop, January 17, 2011
This review is from: Vol. 1-26 Scientists One Anning-Malthus (Audio CD)
I had this on my "to buy" list for almost a year before purchasing and boy am I glad I bought it.

If it came down to picking a favorite, Charles Robert Darwin is definitely the most catchy and is the one I usually start my listen with.

Their sound varies a lot on the album, but it just has really high production value and doesn't get bogged down by trying to be "Indie", it's just fun and semi-educational. The biggest vibe I get is a They Might Be Giants feel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for volume #2 N thru Z, March 10, 2007
This review is from: Vol. 1-26 Scientists One Anning-Malthus (Audio CD)
This indy-pop extravaganza is fantastically funny AND still educational.

Was Einstein really a famously bad violinist?

This is a brilliant idea and the songs are catchy>>

the scientists are from a range of disciplines, contries, time periods.

5.0 out of 5 stars Despite my best efforts...., March 31, 2009

I actually learned some facts I now repeat to anyone who will listen to me. The lyrics are smart and funny, but turn off your inner mr wizard and the music will overtake you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than coffee, March 28, 2009

No guilty pleasure this! It's a bona fide learning experience wrapped up in catchy indie-rock wrapping paper! With lyrics like "for geocentric theory there was no hope" you might think you're in for a painfully dweeby experience, but Artichoke brings honest-to-god rock and roll abandon to the strange and fascinating lives of famous and obscure scientists.

4.0 out of 5 stars Totally ridiculous but totally awesome!, February 26, 2008

Schoolhouse Rock all grown up musically. They actually give real information about scientists like Galileo and Darwin in a funky punk way.
