Incredible introduction to Bollywood,
By
This review is from: Vol. 1-Beginners Guide to Bollywood (Audio CD)
By the time I got this collection, I was no longer a Bollywood beginner. However, only 3 of these songs were reproduced on the other collections I have, and this is by far the best value on the market. The first disc is stellar, incredible, full of classics which you will love instantly. The second disc is very funky, with breakbeats, sound effects, and hot dirty grooves. The third disc is my least favourite, though still full of great moments - it has a decidedly '90's slant to it, sounding quite a bit like American sountrack pieces from the same period. Overall, very very highly recommended, especially for the first two discs.

A super Bollywood Primer,
By
This review is from: Vol. 1-Beginners Guide to Bollywood (Audio CD)
You can take the title seriously here, folks. This cd is a super introduction for anyone new to the musical wonders of Bollywood. Though a few tracks have been anthologized before, there is more than enough here to make this worthwhile. The first two discs and their wonderful assortment of 50s, 60s and 70s would have been worth the cost of admission, but the third disc of recordings made within the last decade is icing on the cake for someone like me who hasn't had the time and/or resources to properly explore the newer sounds coming out of India. Great selection and nice price, you really can't go wrong on this one.

Brilliant!,

Having had no clue about Bollywwod music I bought this on a whim and I LOVE IT! It made me go out on a shopping spree on amazon trying to find more CD's like it.
If you are the least bit adventurous and open minded when it comes to music, when you are prepared to try to sing along - in Hindi!, then by any means, buy this compilation. It opened up a whole new world for me.
