classic roots, incredible singer!!!,

This review is from: Vol. 1-Roots Master: Vintage Roots Reggae Singles (Audio CD)
I rate Claudius Linton's voice and style as among the very BEST of JA roots singers. He is right up there with people like Bob Marley and Burning Spear.
This album makes available some of the most classic roots tracks by an artist who "disappeared" from the JA reggae scene for decades. His 70's cuts like "Crying Time" and "Backra Massa" have been eagerly hunted out by roots collectors and sound system operators and have been hard to obtain (and expensive!) This album brings together original mono mixes and dubs as well as new mixes made from the original studio masters. It is amazing to hear the tunes sounding so fresh, detailed and clean, like they were recorded yesterday! There are great unreleased tracks too which illustrate that Claudius was no hit and run talent. Nuff respect for all the work that has gone into this project, it is clearly a labour of love. Most excitingly for the future, in the bonus video on the CD you get to see Claudius recording new material with top flight JA musicians in Tuff Gong studio. His voice and energy still has the same drive, energy and passion that he had back in the 70s, I cannot WAIT to hear what he has yet to bring out! If you like conscious roots reggae, you will LOVE this album, and if you don't know Claudius Linton's music already, this is a MUST BUY album!!!

The lost Holy Grail of roots reggae,

This review is from: Vol. 1-Roots Master: Vintage Roots Reggae Singles (Audio CD)
After hearing about Claudius Linton for so long, I started to think it was all hype. After listening to this album, I know there was no hype. None. This man, his music and his passion are the real deal. How these tracks could have been lost for so long is mind boggling.
