Great Chicago Piano Jazz, March 11, 1999

This CD takes you right back to the Panther Room of the Hotel Sherman in Chicago as Ammons and Johnson played back to back on two grand pianos which were perched on a stage behind the bar. Just as it was done in the spring of 1944. Great boogie-woogie as well as stride piano and the sole drawback is that the original recording was good but not up to the quality of reproduction as compared to today's technology. Never the less, this is good listening.
