5.0 out of 5 stars John Tesh does it again!
I'm so glad I bought the new Deeper Faith II CD. I had John Tesh's last CD, A Deeper Faith and I loved it. I love singing along with his arrangements of the songs I sang in church. The thing I like most about the second CD is that it has some songs I wasn't familiar with but I love just as much as the first CD. Bring Me To Life and I Can Only Imagine are my favorites. I...

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit of a disappointment

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit of a disappointment, October 29, 2003

This review is from: Vol. 2-Deeper Faith (Audio CD)
This is the fifth commercially-released worship album put out by John Tesh's record label, and is the follow-up to Tesh's "A Deeper Faith" record. While some of the songs are good in the opinion of this reviewer ("Bring Me to Life" and "Pour Out Your Spirit," in particular) and I enjoy the messages presented in worship songs, this album falls short of the mark in two main areas.

Firstly, contemporary worship songs as a whole tend to be simple and repetitive; oftentimes, the same verse is repeated over and over again (here, on "We Fall Down").

Secondly, although this album bears Tesh's name, leading the purchaser/listener to believe that he is the record's primary artist, he only makes fleeting appearances on it. "God Who Gives You Hope," "My Redeemer," "You Will Know the Truth," and "I Am The Vine" are actually narratives performed by Tesh. Each one is less than 30 seconds in length, and is more of a segue than an acutal music track. And the one track on which Tesh actually does sing (the aforementioned "We Fall Down,") first appeared last year on the original release of his "Christmas Worship" record. The remaining musical tracks are carried by various worship artists, many of which appeared on Tesh's previous worship release, "Awesome God."

So, if you are planning on purchasing this record with the anticipation of hearing new worship music performed and sung by Tesh, you are likely to be a bit disappointed, as I am. If, however, you are an aficianado of contemporary worship songs and don't really care who performs them, you are likely to enjoy this record as much as the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars John Tesh does it again!, November 10, 2003

I'm so glad I bought the new Deeper Faith II CD. I had John Tesh's last CD, A Deeper Faith and I loved it. I love singing along with his arrangements of the songs I sang in church. The thing I like most about the second CD is that it has some songs I wasn't familiar with but I love just as much as the first CD. Bring Me To Life and I Can Only Imagine are my favorites. I really like Pour Out Your Spirit and God of Wonders too. I noticed John doesn't sing all the songs but I've never thought of him as a singer anyway. He's such a talented pianist and arranger and I've always enjoyed every CD of his that I've bought. It's so nice to have music I can listen to with my kids and know it's upbeat and uplifting and I don't have to worry about profanity or inappropriate language. Keep on doing what you're doing John! I love it and I'm going to recommend it to all my friends.

1.0 out of 5 stars John Tesh? Where?, January 10, 2004

I ordered this album for a friend who loves Tesh but she (and myself who has never listened to Tesh) are very dissappointed. More than half these songs are sung by other people. When she orders John Tesh, she wants John Tesh. False advertising is this album.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Piece of Garbage, November 1, 2003

Never before in the history of the world has a bigger piece of crap been released.
John Tesh is someone who regrets leaving Entertainment Tonight so badly that he needs recognition somehow. So what does he do? He makes crappy music for people who don't know anything about music.
