5.0 out of 5 stars Silky mix indeed!, April 30, 2002

This review is from: Vol. 4-Journeys By DJ-Silky Mi (Audio CD)
This is pure genius. A classic mix cd if there ever was one. I bought this when it was first released in 1994 and still listen to it regularly today. This was the cd that started many other companies thinking about mix cds. Even though it's filled with many progressive classics it still sounds fresh today. And the mixing is almost spot on.

Digweed takes listeners on a true journey with this mix. We start blissfully meandering our way through Power Circle's Garden of Peace, BT's Deeper Sunshine, and a progressive remix of Anthony White's Love Me Tonight, before taking a bit of a cruise through classics such as South Street Players' Who Keeps Changin Your Mind, Deep Inside by Hardrive and Let Your Body Be Free by Volcano. Then we start a slow take-off with Surgestive by Advances masterfully building up into Horse's Celebrate, and taking off into full flight with Leftfield and Lydon's classic Open Up. We then weave our way through Keep On Truckin' by Mighty Dub Katz (Norman Cook), the Lost Tribe's Give Me A Smile, and Waterfall by Atlantic Ocean, before blasting off for parts unknown with Shi-take's Don't Look Back In Anger.

It doesn't get better then this. If your a fan of John Digweed, or just like listening to uplifting house tunes you need this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal, A House Music Landmark Mix, March 8, 2010
This review is from: Vol. 4-Journeys By DJ-Silky Mi (Audio CD)
Listened to this often when I bought it in 1994. Last listened to it in 1996, and recently found it in an old box. The CD no longer works, (not scratched, just degraded.... it happens!) Have got a new copy, and am more amazed now, than ever before.

The progressive track selection, as well as the ambitious, sophisticated and well crafted transitions make this mix a landmark achievement in the history of house music. If you're lucky enough to find a copy, set the volume to at least halfway, and enjoy non-stop from start to finish for best results. It's pure inspiration from a formative key period in house music, and John Digweed's career. The music, Digweed and the atmosphere was optimistic, sensual and uplifting. Next to Northern Exposure and Renaissance with Sasha, this is Digweed's best work. It really is a truly 'silky' mix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic CD, solid mixing, started my DJ career, January 12, 2005
This review is from: Vol. 4-Journeys By DJ-Silky Mi (Audio CD)
Bought this CD in 1994 -- it is timeless & still wicked ten years on! No trancey cheese, but good solid groves to keep you moving through the night. It's obvious how much talent Digweed has. The mixing is spot on. Reminds me of how innocent and optimistic dance music was, back in the early 90s. Takes you right back and reminds you what is missing in dance music today.

Came back after a club night in London, put this on the stereo, and was inspired to learn to mix. Years later, I am still mixing. And loving this CD.

If you're new to Digweed, this is essential.
